Going full screen crashes computer

When ever I do not use the "leave a hole" option, my whole computer crashes on startup. I am running 5 WoW clients. I get limited mouse movement and then when I push keys a beep plays through my headset/speakers. Discord and other voice communication still works, but nothing else does. I have two graphics cards (1070 TIs) not in SLI, running 6 screens. It only seems to crash when "leave a hole" is not being used. I would like to not be seeing my task-bar as that is my primary monitor. No crash messages.

Please let me know what information I can provide to help me with this issue.

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

I guess we'd need:

1) A compatibility diagnostic
2) Your profile with both a working and non-working Window Layout to look at
3) To know which displays are plugged into which GPU (as per your WIndow Layout)
4) What version of the game and which Graphics API are you running, in game (11 Legacy, 11, or 12)

1) A compatibility diagnostic: https://pastebin.com/E9S1fvWV

2) Your profile with both a working and non-working Window Layout to look at:
Working Profile 1 (5 screens with Hole on primary, swapping)- https://pastebin.com/Jx2L493p https://i.imgur.com/9DtdzsP.png
Working Profile 2 (2 screens with hole on primary, swapping, 4 clinets on 1 screen, 1 on primary display)- https://pastebin.com/CmdiqU1L https://i.imgur.com/f32XBig.png
Crash on startup (2 screens no holes, swapping, 4 clinets on 1 screen, 1 on primary display)- https://pastebin.com/X4sTgtwy https://i.imgur.com/rGOkPYj.png

3) To know which displays are plugged into which GPU (as per your WIndow Layout)
Windows window layout- https://i.imgur.com/Yz1azTh.png
ISBoxer window Layout- https://i.imgur.com/WlPl7JD.png
GPU1 has monitors going to the bottom 3 displays. GPU2 is powering the top 3 displays

4) What version of the game and which Graphics API are you running, in game (11 Legacy, 11, or 12)
Under where i would normally check this the box is missing. https://i.imgur.com/FKe8yJV.png

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

First suggestion is going to be to remove the Win7RTM application compatibility flag from wow.exe
Code:
Application Compatibility flags under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers:
0 D:\Programs\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Wow.exe: ~ WIN7RTM

You can do this either through a regedit
or you can find the executable file as per above, right click, select Properties, Compatibility, and untick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option, OK.

Then try it all again. If the same issue, then we'll have to look harder.

p.s. With multiple GPUs, you don't want games swapping between monitors plugged into different GPU's as the render load will increase on both GPUs and generally result in terrible performance. So if using a layout where games will be rendered on different GPU's, scratch swapping between those. e.g. layout no. 1.

p.p.s. Cheers for all the info up front. It makes this much easier.

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

Diagnostic 2- https://pastebin.com/S81NQADQ

Compatibility mode set to OFF.

Problem is still active. Client 1 launches, then moments later whole system freezes. Same symptoms of limited mouse movement and sound still working. All screens are frozen other wise, but the mouse does move on screen. Ctrl Alt Del does nor work as well during this frozen state. Setting any window profile with a hole lets it work, but that makes me sad.

Cross GPU swaping of clients runs ok. My resource usage is only about 60-80% on both GPUs when I am running the 5 screen method with swapping.

When it launches the windows with a hole its fine, and then it moves them into position and resizes them to full and it works. But if it launches at Full screen cover, it crashes (What I'm Observing).

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

Upto you on the cross GPU thing. We know it generates a performance hit. Certainly it can cause issues, but your "Working profile 2" and "Crash on startup" profile shouldn't come into that, so lets just concentrate on getting that working for the moment.

For the crashing, there is nothing particularly outstanding or even particularly behaviour driven that is any different between the leave a hole and the no holes layouts.
So, after another nosey, the MSI LEDKeeper and Mysticlight service are the only other items that I can find that have a chance at causing problems (only because there are reported issues on the interwebs), so I'd try shutting those down too.

Otherwise it is back to real basics.
Check the graphics drivers are up to date (there is an update, but I'm not too hopeful that'll fix it).
Double check that the game itself is not set to Full screen (ISBoxer will be forcing a windowed mode, but lets not make it do extra work).
Maybe turn down the MSAA a tad.
Maybe turn off the Multisample Alpha - Test

There is effectively no difference in settings between your "Working profile 2" and "Crash on startup" profiles. They are actually both no holes layouts, with the only difference being the Avoid Taskbar option, which changes the size of the "main" region slightly, so I think we're not really chasing a Window Layout issue per se, but rather some configuration setting which is only rearing it's head when the game is being given full screen resolution settings for it's viewport.

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

Graphics is up to date.
All LED/RGB drivers uninstalled.
MSAA set to x4 down from x8.. doesnt listen.
Windowed mode... doesn't listen.

When I launch the client from file, it launches in a window. When I launch from Innerspace it is Windowed Fullscreened and MSAA is set to 8x. Launch from file- https://i.imgur.com/Uk3oQ4T.png

Sometimes it works right when I make a new window profile on first start up, but if I relaunch them it will crash. (5 monitors full screened, no hole, no swaping) Diagnostic- https://pastebin.com/Tq9k0MgF Profile- https://pastebin.com/FR6Vecix

Re: Going full screen crashes computer

All systems are go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQmjgzNU3zI

WoW in-game graphic settings are different from when you launch from file or blizzard client, and from when you launch from Innerspace. The settings are independent. I had use a window profile that my computer liked, launch from Innerspace, change the in-game graphic settings to "Windowed" (NOT Windowed (Fullscreen)), exit the clients, change to the window profile I wanted, re-launch and good to go.

My computer did not like a moving a "Windowed (Fullscreen)" from one screen to another. It was ok with moving and resizing a "Windowed" screen.

Thanks for the help.
