Trouble with IWT and Melee DPS

Hi guys,

I have my 1 tank, 3 DK Frost DPS and 1 Healer team setup. I have trouble on my first keymap and wanted to get advice to get going.

I am using the Virtual Combat Key Maps and took the DPS Rotation and did the following:

Bound it to HotKey: Keypad number 1
I have 1 step with 3 actions
Action 1: Do Assist Me in Non-Combat Key Map -> Self
Action 2: Do Interact with Target in Non-Combat Key Map - Self
Action 3: 1 -> All

I have edited the Interact with Target key map under Non-combat to send the command only to melee group. I hope that will automatically make the priest stop and cast smite from a distace. I have my DPS macro on in the first space on action bar 1. Hence the thrid action.

Problems:
A. The key map does not send IWT to melee team. If I stand back from target dummy, all start executing DPS macro, but no body runs up to target and starts to autoswing.

B. Once I stop the combat, I then press ALT - F to get follow working. This does not work anymore and pressing a directional move key causes all characters to go off in different directions. Only way I found to establish follow again is to turn on and off both broadcasting and key maps again.

Can you tell me what I have done wrong?

No, not without seeing your profile.

I don't think Num 1 is going to work at all since you've set the Hotkey for it under Virtual Combat. You should be setting any Hotkeys under Combat Hotkeys. :) Virtual Combat is meant to be left blank because those Mapped Keys are getting "virtualized" into something else.

But as it stands, your characters are still likely going to do nothing since you should be setting actual DPS rotation keys under each spec-specific Mapped Key (e.g. DK Frost, DK Tank, Disc Priest). Otherwise, there's no need to be virtualizing anything if you're just sending basic keystroke Actions in the intial Key Map (Combat Hotkeys).

It should go: Combat Hotkeys (DPS Rotation Hotkey) > Virtual Combat (DPS Rotation (leave blank)) > virtualized under each character into a spec-specific Key Map (you've done this already) > spec-specific Key Map (where specific rotation keystrokes/macros/etc get defined/applied)

I see nothing that turns on broadcasting except for the Activate Repeat Mapped Key (Shift Alt R). Perhaps if you fix the first issue, the second issue may magically fix itself.

Also, you still have the Standard Menu attached to your Character Set, so 1 through = is going to send those keys to all of your game clients when you press them (not sure if this is what you want or not).

Thank you for the reply. I think I might need to go with the basic setup versus the pro and just use macros on the actual hotbars for easy setup. I guess the whole virtual, combat and class stuff is messing me up

Hi MiRaj

No what I want to use is 1,2,3,4......0 for my spells and macros in the WOW client key bindings on Action bar 1 and Shift-1, Shift-2.......Shift-0 for key bindings in the wow client for action bar 2.

In the ISboxer I wanted to configure it so I press G1 - G18 keys to fire off the different action bar spells, macros and abilities. So does that mean the Standard menu should be off?

If you're only ever going to be running a single team and using macros (either in game or in ISBoxer), then the Pro System won't be incredibly beneficial to you. The Pro System really begins to shine when you need to manage many characters across multiple team compositions and you're constantly swapping specs or rotations around. Also, if you ever want to begin using some advanced healing methods, then you'll likely need to move to the Pro System.

If you want to keep the Standard Menu, then by all means keep it. :) Everyone has their profile setup differently, and I just pointed it out in case the Menu was no longer needed/wanted.

If you want to expand the Standard Menu and create one for Shift+1, Shift+2, etc... then Lax shows how to do that somewhere in this video.
