shift modifier questions

Hey again! I've got a couple things I've been trying to figure out for a new priest/lock combo but am having difficulties with.

First, when(and only when) I've got my priest in the main screen and the warlock slaved, my 4 button is set to Shadowburn, which just replaced chaos bolt- when I'm not multiboxing, I have the same setup except that I have a shift modifier so that if I hold the shift button down it casts chaos bolt instead. I'm trying to figure out how to make that affect my slave warlock- right now, if I hold down shift, it refuses to cast anything.

The second question I have is almost identical, but has to do with aoe functions- thanks to previous help I can set up a broadcsat to cast Rain of Fire in targeted location, but with this combo, I don't have space to dedicate a keybind just for the warlock when I'm controlling my priest, so again, is there a way to set it so that when I'm controlling my priest, if I hold down shift on, say, 5, it will allow me to cast the targeted aoe rain of fire?

Thanks again for all the help :) I swear I tried figuring it out before coming here XD

If you want Shift + anything to be sent to a window, you'll need to configure ISBoxer to do it (preferably via the Mapped Key Wizard).

I'm a little confused here... Is Rain of Fire already assigned to a key binding in game? If so, just use the same method as above; but, you can press any button you want and have it activate a Send Next Click Action to send Shift+5 to your Warlock for Rain of Fire.

The Mapped Key Wizard will do this (http://isboxer.com/wiki/Mapped_Key_Wiza ... Plus_Click), but you'll most likely have to modify the Mapped Key afterwards in order to press Shift+5 (as the Hotkey) and have it send the Warlock's key binding for Rain of Fire (the Wizard doesn't set it up this way by default).

That might sound a little confusing and I can try to explain it better if doesn't make sense, but you would need to tell us what you want to press on your keyboard and what key binding you want to be sent to the Warlock.

Re: shift modifier questions

Hmm. For clarification on the first one, this is the macro I am currently using(for the warlock's slave actionbar):

#showtooltip shadowburn
/follow focus
/cast [mod:shift] chaos bolt; shadowburn

This macro is on hotkey 4

I used the Mapped Key Wizard to create a combat, straight key broadcast for 4, then went into the hotkey settings after reading your post and attempted to change the hotkey settings to reflect my wishes as to Shift: I put in a screenshot(Keybind #1) to show what it looks like at the moment, not sure where I went wrong on this one! (If my lock is in the main window, the macro will cause hitting 4 to cast shadowburn, while holding shift down with 4 will cast chaos bolt; but right now if my priest is in the main window, with my warlock in the slave window, no matter whether I hit 4 or shift-4, it always casts Shadowburn)

--

For the second one, I have a nearly identical macro:

#showtooltip shadowburn
/follow focus
/cast [mod:shift] Rain of Fire; Incinerate

What I'm trying to do here is: If I hit 5 alone on my priest, I want it to cast Incinerate. But if I hold shift-5, I want it to activate the broadcast + click and cast Rain of Fire.

Right now with both macros, it will cast Shadowburn or Incinerate, respectively, but I haven't figured out how to get the shift modifier to work on the slave account lol

Thanks again for the response ^^

Re: shift modifier questions

In the profile you linked, Shift+4 is sending 4 to Shaddafackap. If you want to send Shift+4 rather than just 4, then you need to go into Step 1 and change the Key Combination that's being sent.

Re: shift modifier questions

By step one I assume you're saying mapped key wizard >Combat >Straight Key Broadcast, right? One of the first things I Attempted to do was make the key combination look like this:

Shift
4

However, it doesn't register the Shift, Alt, or Ctrl keys when I attempt to stick em in. Anything else works(numbers, letters, spacebar, mouse buttons, you get the idea), but the regular modifiers seem to be a no-go. I'm assuming because these are the hotkeys ISboxer uses, and that if there's a way to free them up, I'll be able to use them for my straight key broadcast/straight key broadcast+click functions the way I want to.

So, that leads me to ask how one would go about making the Shift modifier available for usage? :)

I have no idea what you meant by that, but it sounds/looks rude.

This is not why they are disabled in the wizard at all. ISBoxer does not use Shift, Ctrl, or Alt as Hotkeys and neither should you (which is the reason they are disabled for Straight Key Broadcast) because you would unintentionally break things in order to get what you may believe is a shortcut.

By step one I assume you're saying mapped key wizard >Combat >Straight Key Broadcast, right?

No, he didn't mention the wizard at all actually.

The problem is that you started with the wizard and instead of doing what you were supposed to do -- hold Shift while you press 4 because that's how the Hotkey Shift+4 works -- you put in just 4; and then after the wizard you came out and changed the Hotkey (what you press) to Shift+4, but did not change what ISBoxer sends to the game, which is still 4.. You could have gotten exactly your current result by selecting "Key Re-Map" during the Mapped KEy Wizard instead of "Straight Key Broadcast", and tell it to press 4 when you press Shift+4 -- this doesn't sound like what you want.

Here is what he was saying by "you need to go into Step 1 and change the Key Combination that's being sent":
In the top left pane under Key Maps, select Combat. Then in the bottom left pane you have a Mapped Key that's "4 (Hotkey: Shift+4)". So expand the mapped key called 4, so under it you see "Advanced, Steps, 1" and click on the 1 under Steps. Now to the right you see "4 -> Shaddafackap-Moon Guard". If you want it to send Shift+4, select this Action and adjust its Key Combination to include Shift.

Re: shift modifier questions

Thanks, worked like a charm ^^

On an offnote, no rudeness intended.
