EQ1: Variable Keystrokes

For the moment, I'm only trying to get my boxes to target each other and haven't had much luck.

After the Quick Setup Wizard, I set the variable keystrokes for each of the slots in the character set. The in-game GUI shows correct mappings. But when I hit the target key in any box, it only targets the local box and does not affect the others at all. I know I'm missing something basic here and am ready to slap myself on the forehead if someone would please just slap me on the back of my head and give me a clue.

Re: EQ1: Variable Keystrokes

Assuming we're not discussing "ATeam" since that one doesn't have things assigned to it and the others do.

But when I hit the target key

This might be the problem, I don't see a target key. You have a follow key -- Shift+F -- but not a target key. Are you pressing Shift+F to test this, or something else? You should have Key Maps enabled, and press Shift+F.

As configured, when you press Shift+F (the Hotkey for "Follow Me" under "General"), it should send one of F1 through F5 to the other windows (a Variable Keystroke for Target Slot <#>), followed by Ctrl+Shift+F (the Variable Keystroke for Follow Target). Nothing will happen in the current window when pressing Shift+F.

Your "Assist Me" key under "General" is only missing a Hotkey. You will not be able to activate it until you set that (or set up an alternate method, like a Click Bar button), if you meant to test this one

Re: EQ1: Variable Keystrokes

Thank you very much. That was very helpful. Something "clicked", not sure what it was, but I now understand and what's more important, it now works. Following and assisting works from all 4 windows.
