DAoC Key Maps

Attempting to Configure ISBoxer for use with Dark Age of Camelot.... I know, its a game way past its prime, and no one plays anymore. Believe it or not, there are quite a few of Us coming back to play a game that has good mechanics. After so many big titles have failed us, I wonder why I left in the first place.

Ok, presently I have been able to make the window layout work as long as i manually match the screen resolution in game and boxer.

Now the problem is Key Maps, I have been thru MiRai's Variable Keystrokes video, and http://isboxer.com/wiki/Common_modifications , both very helpful. My config looks good to me... for what that's worth :)

The problem is that the alternate char appears to do step 1: <Target Slot> , but not step 2: <Follow Target>
With both targets sitting near each other, and neither of them with a current target, I press the hotkey (Ctrl+Alt+V) and Char 2 will target Char 1, but not follow. If i tab over to char 2 and press the follow hotkey (Shift+V) it will follow, so i know the in-game hotkey is correct. IS does not appear to be sending the command.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

From looking at your config, your Target Slot X Variable Keystrokes are not set up correctly, i.e. you skipped part of the video setup. When you press, Ctrl+Alt+V with Slot 1 active it will be sending F1 to Slot 2 because you have not over-ridden that global behaviour anywhere. However, I am not familiar with the DAoC's key bindings for targetting party members, so take this with a grain of salt.

You want to set it up similarly to this image, except ignoring Slot 3, in your Character Set.

Additionally, some games do not handle modifiers properly, so Shift+V may be the issue. Try an in-game keybinding of just "V" and change your ISBoxer setup accordingly (change the Default Key Combination for Follow Target to "V").

Re: DAoC Key Maps

Thank you for your response.

I did no over write the global behavior because DAoC does not change the "select" hotkey for each member of the group. F1 will always select the party leader no matter which character your looking at, and F2 always the next member, and so on.

With my current config, InnerSpace does tell the other character to "target me", but does not tell it to "Follow me".

Also, Shift+V is the default keybind for DAoC.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

OK, that makes sense. DAoC is the first game I have heard of to do it that way.

So my suggestion is to change the default follow keybind for DAoC (if that is possible) to something not involving a modifier, which is why I suggested using plain "V". Then change ISBoxer's Follow Target Variable Keystroke as explained above.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

Per your suggestion, I changed the in-game keybind for follow to just plain "v", and it still doesn't work. I am seeing the same behavior as described above.
The other char does "target me", but does not follow.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

It should work; not sure why it doesn't. I'm going to download the DAoC trial to see what the issue is.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

OK, I have confirmed that it doesn't work when you use the default key-binding for Stick (Shift+V). (Stick is a melee-range Follow option available in DAoC, for those playing along at home). Even though ISBoxer is sending Shift+V the game is interpreting this as just V. I know this because when I switched quickly to my second character the Sprint icon was still flashing. V is the default keybinding for Sprint. This is a known issue with some games and there are workarounds available.

However, the only way to fix this when you have a multi-step Mapped Key set to activate on Press or Release (Follow Me is such a Mapped Key) is to change the key binding for Stick in-game to a single, unmodified key. I'd suggest F10 as that does not appear to be used by DAoC (and V is already used for Sprint).

The fix for you is simple, change the keybinding for Stick in-game on both your characters to F10. Then, in ISBoxer change the Default Key Combination for the (global) Follow Target Variable Keystroke to F10. Do a File, Export all to Inner Space and it will work. I have confirmed that it works using the above setup.

Re: DAoC Key Maps

Confirmed that this is an issue with modifiers in DAOC.

Build 5621 of Inner Space should correct it; your Follow key being Shift+V should work with this new build. (Since you're already on the development build of Inner Space, just close and restart Inner Space to let it patch up)

Thank you gentlemen.
