Sticky Assist?

I was pondering today how nice it would be to be able to stick my DPS on a target until it dies, and still be able to move the tanks target around... To do this with FTL is pretty easy, you just add a line to the top of your macro...

Code:
/stopmacro [target=target,exists,harm,nodead]

Now in ISBoxer the assist portion is done for you, and it's done BEFORE your macro... so I was trying to figure out how to do this, and asked Lax to implement an option... just then I noticed a box at the bottom of the Warcraft Macro Action configuration screen, it is a tickbox that says "name for /click".

So I set that box on my assist key to "FTLAssist" and whipped up a keymap for StickyAssist, and gave it the macro action:

Code:
/stopmacro [target=target,exists,harm,nodead]
/click FTLAssist

Of course, the servers are down, this is drycode, but I see no reason it wont work.

Example of why/when you would want to do this? On Bronjam in Forge of Souls you need to target the soul fragment and burn it down (ok, ideally, I've just been brute forcing it.) This causes my tank to run to the soul fragment, and Bronjam to absorb it... With a sticky assist I should be able to keep the tank parked with Bronjam on the far side of the room giving me plenty of time to burn down the fragment.

Re: Sticky Assist?

There are times, where you'd prefer the DPS to stay on whatever you have selected initially.
And other times, when you want them to automatically hit whatever you are targeting now.

Having a toggle, to easily switch between the two modes, would probably be ideal.

Would having two assist keymaps be the solution?
One would be the normal FTL Assist Me.
The other would be.. if targeting a hostile, don't assist until its dead... similar to your new keymap.

And then have a toggle key.
Two steps.
Step one turns on one and off the other.
Step two reverses the process.

Re: Sticky Assist?

Love that idea Ualaa. And hten you could use Action Target Groups.

Melee DPS stay on this target. Casters keep chasing the tanks target. Making fights lik the second boss in ICC much more friendly.

Please let us know how you go with this Zanthor!

Re: Sticky Assist?

You really only need to toggle the FTL Assist Me key if you want them to stop auto-assisting. Mapped Key State Action. Then if you want a manual assist key you can make a duplicate (exact copy, remove the Hotkey from FTL Assist Me, set Hotkey for new mapped key) that doesn't get toggled

Lax, this works perfectly. I have always used FTL manual assist, but I have long considered FTL auto assist to be a really convenient feature. Now I can have them both with a simple toggle of a mapped key action. Very nice!

P.S. Has the new addition (i.e., baby boy) arrived yet?

No, he's due on the 19th and is taking his time. :)
