Re: First of many Questions

There are a lot of approaches, basically pick one that you like and go from there.

I like to have "4" do one thing on my Druids... Force of Nature, which is a keystroke and a mouse action (send next click).
But on another team it does something entirely different, maybe just the default (slaves assist the main window, and everyone receives the "4" press).

My approach is to create a Keymap, named after the character set.
I actually copy the entire FTL DPS Keymap and then paste it, and rename it after the new character set.
In the toolkit, if you click the Character Set in the top left window, you get an overview of everything that applies to the team.
In the bottom left, I delete FTL DPS Keymap, only from the team.
And drag the newly created Key Map down there.

If you left click on Key Maps (in the bottom left), I set:
a) White List (the middle option).
b) Click upon (so they're highlighted in blue) each of the keymaps for the team.
--- Team Specific Map
--- Control Keymap
--- General Keymap

None of the others can ever load for this character set.

But the Control Keymap (which is always on), does not know to load and unload the team specific Key Map.
So we need to add that.
Click on Control, under Key Maps in the top left pane.
In the bottom left pane, select the Activate Maps (mapped key).
Right click on General Keymap > On > All, and copy that to the clipboard.
Paste it (right click on Actions in the bottom right pane).
Then edit it, to read "Team Specific Key Map" is "On", with a Target of that entire Character Set.
Do the same for Off, on Step 2.

Don't forget to export to Inner Space, for your changes to apply.

Now you start off with a fresh Key Map, identical to the FTL DPS Keymap.
And you can make any changes you want.
And these changes apply to the current team only.
So "4" can be a round-robin on one team.
It can be a Send Next Mouse Click, for Hurricane or Force of Nature on another team.

It is still helpful to follow general guidelines across your teams.

My mouse broadcast actions (ground target spells like Hurricane, Force of Nature, Rain of Fire, Death & Decay, Mass Dispel, etc...).
They always appear on "4" or "6".
And if there's no targeting involved, quite often on Shift + A, as well.

Shift F5 is air mounts on all teams.
Shift F10 is ground mounts on all teams.
Shift F9 is drink/eat, again for all teams.
Quite a few keys are consistent.

The more you play a team the more you get to know it.

My Druids used:
Left Click = Rejuvenation
Right Click = Cleanse
Scroll Wheel Up = Swiftmend
Scroll Wheel Down = Wild Growth
Alt + Left Click = Nourish
Alt + Right Click = Healing Touch
Ctrl + Left Click = Lifebloom
Ctrl + Right Click = Regrowth.

All of this, to all druids across a repeater region, using Grid + Grid Custom Layouts + Clique.
Initially I was kind of lost, and only used a few clicks.

Over time, Left Click (Apply a HOT) > Scroll Up (Swiftmend which causes Efflorescence) > Scroll Down (Wild Growth) = My AoE healing.
Very quick and easy to do instinctively.

But it was a good two weeks of battlegrounds almost every day to learn this.
Having played the DK team (with different binds to heal on the Paladin), my Druids would be rusty for a few BG's at least.
But I still have a quick main heal on Left Click... a consistency across all teams.
I used to Cleanse/Remove Curse on Right Click, but now have "Big Heal" on a right click,a nd would likely go with Healing Touch as Right Click... if I play the Druids as Resto again.

Everything in above Quote was done sucessfully after running FRESH install of ISboxer and adding Lax's macros.

Done with the exception that Step 1 is General Keymap > OFF > All
And Step 2 is ON > all.

I figure that was just a type and should not impact the setup, correct?

Ok did this by copying FTL DPS and pasting it as Pally+DK.
I then edited DPS 1 (Hotkey:1)

Basically only thing I changed was added 1 additional action. That Action is a new named wow macro. It is the Howling Blast macro from Lax and sent to all windows.

I did not remove the FTL Assist Me action which is default to the FTL DPS keys.
I then export and go to the game and press the 1 key. Nothing happens.
What did I do wrong or what am I missing here?

code of the mapped key is below.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Box xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

  <Name>DPS 1</Name>
  <Description>If you press 1 with Key Maps turned on, this Mapped Key will have each of your toons assist you and press 1.

If you need more keys like this, the Many New Mapped Keys option from the right-click menu on Mapped Keys will help you set them up very quickly. See http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Quick_Start_Guide#Quickly_add_many_hotkeys.2C_optionally_with_auto-assist.

            <RShift>false</RShift>
            <LCtrl>false</LCtrl>

          </UseCustomModifiers>
          <WoWMacro>
            <WoWMacroSetString>Deathknight</WoWMacroSetString>
            <WoWMacroString>Howling Blast</WoWMacroString>
          </WoWMacro>
        </MappedKeyAction>
      </Actions>
    </Step>
  </Steps>
</MappedKey></SerializedObject>
</Box>

Does it work to take someone else's ISboxer save file and open that in my isboxer? Then I can see what happens when I press the keys 1 - 9 and see some stuff happening. if I do not like it, I can change it - hopefully.

Currently, I believe I am following the setup, but nothing happens in WOW when I press the hotkey 1 :?: button

Re: First of many Questions

Here is the paste:

http://www.privatepaste.com/95f025054b

Basically I created new Kay Map called Pally+DK
I then copied the default FTL DPS keys into that new key map group.
The first mapped key is DPS 1 and the only thing changed there is I added one action to cast a Howling blast macro. The howling blast macro is a named macro in ISboxer.

When I press 1 in WOW, nothing happens.

Re: First of many Questions

You need to enable your character set to that Key Map. See Key Map Editor Instructions.

Re: First of many Questions

Oh I will drag the char set to the key map. I thought that was done by modifying the control key maps. And including the DK specific key map into char group as per Ualaa's post. I will try this evening after work and let you know how it works.

Thanks!

Re: First of many Questions

Hey guys

Finally got home from work and put the wife and baby to bed. I just logged one char in and was hoping that the fix would work. I added the chars and char set to the keymaps. Unfortunately, nothing happened.

I target the target dummy with 1 DK. I press the 1 key and nothing happened. The 1 key slot on my action bar is empty since it should engage the target and cast howling wind. However, nothing happened.

I am really struggling to get this working. Between the 12 hour work days and family requirements, I get little time to actually play. I must be tired because I feel I am missing the obvious and cannot get my setup to work. :oops:

I am not even sure where to re-start anymore.

Re: First of many Questions

Ok this crap is strange. I have a Swiss German keyboard on my laptop and a G11 swiss german keyboard. I have NOT installed any logitech keyboard software for the keyboard.

the 1 key on my keyboard types the number ONE when I press it in forums. When i go to keybindings and press 1 action bar key and press the 1 button on my keyboard, it puts ALT + SHIFT + U

What is happening, is this from ISboxer sending ALT + Shift +U as a virtual key map?

I am so tired and confused. Time for more beer :ugeek:

Re: First of many Questions

If you are changing in-game key bindings, you will need to turn Key Maps off.

To see what "1" is going to do when you press it, go to your 1 Hotkey in your Pally+DK Key Map. First it presses "FTL Assist Me" in all of the other windows, which might be Shift+Backspace for example, and then it does "WoW Macro 'Howling Blast' in 'Deathknight' -> all". The Howling Blast macro is configured with Shift+Alt+U Key Combination.

1 is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Re: First of many Questions

Ok so now I think I get the root of the problem. Maybe being sober helps also .:)

When I press the 1 hot key isboxer is doing what it should (eg assist and the call a macro).

It appears the key bind for the macro is not triggering the macro. This is my misunderstanding again. I do not have any
Macros set up in wow. Currently only have isboxer named macros which lax provided above.

Do these macros need to be in the wow client macro editor or only in the isboxer macro tool ? Secondly, if only in isboxer, how are they called and passed to the client windows? In game, there is nothing bound to alt + shift + u

Edit: I read again the ISboxer Wiki. My understanding is the isboxer macro functionality has an addon. This addon makes the macros invisible to wow clients. That means I do not need to have the macros configured in wow and since there are no macros configured in wow, they are not put into any action bars or have any key bindings to them.

Rather, ISboxer should make the whole thing happen (cast the spells called by macros). Correct?

I am trying to configure ISboxer to do the following when I press 1 :
a. DKs target the target of the main window and assist him.
b. DKs IWT and run into melee range and attack
c. DKS cast howling blast and . . . that will be followed by other spells

I have the named macro setup. I have the keymap modified from FTL DPS 1
I have only default key bindings in wow.

The keys are being passed to the client, but when Shift + alt + u is pressed, no howling blast is cast. Seems also that the DKs are not IWT and rushing into melee. Could that be the core problem?
