Du you mean it is bound in game or through the IsBoxer addon.
When the ISBoxer add-on is enabled, there is no difference.
kayman001 wrote:Assist seems to work pretty fine in game. It is just that I am trying to understand how this works.
The fact is that assist works while my backspace key does not seem to be bound to assisting (in my in game bindings). When I push it in game manually to assist another one of my characters (acquire their target) nothing seems to happen.
This is because ISBoxer uses an
FTL setup which relies on modifier keys. Backspace by itself does nothing, which allows you to still use it as an actual Backspace key, and Backspace + modifier keys handle assisting.
kayman001 wrote:When I check my in game key bindings, backspace is not assigned to assist.
ISBoxer's macro bindings are not currently listed in the game's key bindings menu, but you can view them under the Game Helper section as I've already mentioned.
kayman001 wrote:I wanted to manually assign it (backspace) to assist, but I do not want to screw my setup so I am not daring to do so. The thing that I am trying to understand is if IsBoxer is somehow binding my backspace to assist in a behind the scenes kind of way. The game helper you advised me to look into clearly shows that the backspace is key combination sent in game in order to assist.
Are you that determined to use Backspace as the actual Hotkey to assist? Backspace is normally only pressed when someone's right hand is on the keyboard... Do you play with both hands on the keyboard and none on the mouse? If so, that's fine, but if not, then using Backspace as the actual Hotkey you want to press in order to assist seems odd. Why not assign the Hotkey to something like a mouse button which is much, much easier to press compared to the Backspace button?
Of course you can always change the add-on's binding to something else, but every single guide and Wiki entry that deals with troubleshooting assumes that the default binding for assist is set to Backspace under the ISBoxer Game Helper section. It's never recommended that you change this binding because, well... Why would you want to press Backspace every time you needed to assist? Surely there are more convenient keys for you to press.
