continual action and one-shot action in a mapped key

Hello,

I was looking for a way to improve the mobility of a range dps team in WoW.
I have often the problem that melee dps keeps hiding behind my chars. Its quite hard to face the mdps to kill them.
So i was looking for a way to face the enemys with Interact with Target.

I wanna set up the following actions:
Execute step when pressed or released
Keypress Down:
1) Do FTL Assist Me
2) Enable CTM (click-to-move)
3) Move Backwards (Should be a continual action)
4) IWT (Interact with Target)
5) 3 -> round-robin
Keypress UP:
1) Disable CTM

What it should do:
Keypress Down:
Enable CTM , Face the target, execute actionbutton 3 ,Move Backwards as long as the key is held down.
Keypress UP:
Disable CTM

I basically wanna make a movement key (same as "down arrow" with an IWT macro inserted). Actionbutton 3 is bind to a root effect.
I have several problems to set this up:
1. im not able to make a continual action and a one-shot action in the same mapped key
2. for some reason the Enable CTM and Disable CTM macro actions doesnt work in the same mapped key. (CTM is always Disabled)
3. The actions should be executed in a specific order.

I end up with a more simple mapped key:
Hold any Keystroke Actions while Hotkey is held ON
1) Do FTL Assist Me
2) Move Backwards
3) IWT (Interact with Target)
4) 3 -> round-robin

With this mapped key i face the target and Move Backwards as long as the key is held down.
But, i have still some problems.
1. My chars dont execute "Do FTL Assist Me" at first and therefore they use IWT on different targets.
2. actionbutton 3 is executed when hotkey is released, but i want it to execute when hotkey is pressed

Is there any way to solve this problems?
Hope u can help me.
Cheers

Re: continual action and one-shot action in a mapped key

The Backwards movement, after the CTM but before the IWT doesn't make sense to me.
CTM allows IWT to move your character.
Backwards movement is going to break movement caused by IWT or Follow.

The Backwards movement should be after the IWT call, so IWT changes the facing and has the toons move towards the target.
And then Backwards movement, breaks the IWT movement via a different movement action.

You don't really need Backwards movement, unless you want to change facing but disallow moving to the target.
If your team is a melee team, there's no real reason to prevent the team from actually staying in melee range.
If your team is a ranged team, then I can see wanting IWT to face the target and the movement breaker to keep the range; if a class can spec to melee (Shaman can be Enhance, Druid can be Feral or Guardian), IWT seems to change facing... but not so for classes that cannot spec into melee (Hunters, Warlocks, Priests and Mages don't have a melee spec).

If you're not able to execute everything desired in a single Press/Release (two steps) cycle, you could go with more than two steps.
If you had four steps, that would be Press, Release, Press, Release.

I've found in some cases, having FTL Assist in a prior step can help alleviate the issue of receiving a target change from the server.
If you change targets, you have roughly your ping before the server knows, and roughly your ping again before the slaves receive this information, even if they're spamming assist.
By placing the assist in one step, there is some kind of a delay between the execution of steps, which increases the chance to be on target.

Re: continual action and one-shot action in a mapped key

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry, probably i wasnt specific enough.

Im multiboxing Ele Shamis and often in PvP i have the problem that Melee enemys keeps hiding behind my chars. Its quite hard to face these Melee enemys to cast offensive abilitys like lava burst on them.
My idea was to have Interact with target and click to move activated like on a Mdps multiboxing team.
I wanna use IWT just to face the target. The problem of IWT+CTM is that u face the target and then run to the target . I wanna face the enemy and then cancel any movement so i can cast spells.

I did some testing and came to the conclusion that holding the moving Backwards key and pressing IWT is the best way to do it.
My english is to limited to explain u why this is the best way.
Maybe u can test it ingame on a dummy and u will undestand.
Enable CTM. target and go close to a dummy. When u stay infront of the dummy turn ur char into the opposite direction. Press and hold ur moving Backward key and then press ur IWT key while u still hold ur moving Backward key.

After u have tested this ingame i guess u will understand what im trying to do with the mapped key i have described.
