Assist problems

Hi,

Recent addition to the multiboxing community and loving every minute. The IS stuff is great and while Ive found the
information and set up fantastic for a lehman such as myself Ive finally encountered a small problem that has me
a little baffled.

Ive successfully dual boxed a 4man team to 70 and have been working on my 2nd team while I wait a few days
for my budget to allow me to purchase wotlk xpacs for each account. My 2nd druid team is at 62 and for some reason
when I target something with window 1 only window 4 will assist and cast spells. If I switch to Window 2 again the same
thing only window 4 will assist. However when I use window 3 and 4 all others will assist and cast as per normal.

Nothing I am doing is any different and this is the first time I encountered the problem. I only have Jamba as my
addon as well as vuhdo and bartender. I did a fresh install re set up using the wizard added hotkeys im familiar with and the same thing.
Only thing Ive done recently is install the patch update.

If I can provide anymore info to work out what I may have done or to find a solution just let me know.

I completely love IS and have been having such a great time I havent got a chance to come here and thank you
for the wonderful work.

Update: Disabled all addons bar IS and same problem.
Also what I should say is happening is when I target and cast a spell using 1 for example on window 1 toon only window 4 assists and targets what I am targeting. Window 2 and 3 target nothing and so get the error of no target. Same when I have window 2 as my main window...window 1 and 3 do not acquire any target. But when I target and cast with window 3 and 4 toons all windows acquire the target and so the spell is cast. Hope tht makes sense.

Check to make sure each of the mapped keys is set to Default, for "use ftl modifiers".
You want FTL modifiers on for three mapped keys:
- FTL Target Me
- FTL Assist Me
- FTL Follow Me

Everything else, you want set to "default".

I had a very similar issue, when I was new, and it was from having changed some of these values.

Most likely this is your issue.




Assuming that is not the issue, I'd check that each member of the team has a different combo of FTL modifiers, such as Alt, Ctrl or Shift.
Given then the first team works, I'd use the same modifiers for the 2nd team as the 1st team.

If the 1st team has Left Alt, for slot 1, then use Left Alt for slot 1 on the second team.

I didnt want to come back til I at least got in some time to follow both your suggestions.
Ty also for pointing me in the right direction lax, so much info I shouldve done a more
thorough look through the endless resources you provide.

I may be having a problem with my comp, keyboard or something apart from the program or wow settings.

The assist problem isnt confined to specific chars, moreso the window. So essentially:

I will put here Window : FTL Mod :

Window 1 : Left Ctrl
Window 2 : Left Alt
Window 3 : Right Shift
Window 4 : Left Shift

IF Window 1 is my main, only window 4 will assist.
IF Window 2 is my main, only window 4 will assist.
IF Window 3 is my main, all windows assist.
IF Window 4 is my main, all windows assist.

Playing with the FTL modifiers generates all sorts of weird happenings, but Im pretty sure
I know exactly the intentions of it all and how its supposed to work. Heck I had it going fine for the past
3 weeks so Im thinking it must be something corrupted on my end thats causing the mishap.

btw. With 9 chars hovering around 70 I am quite pleased.

Your detailed description implies that all windows but number 4 have a key binding -- in WoW -- on Ctrl+ and Alt+ whatever your FTL Assist Me key combination is (Backspace by default). That's the only reason why, when it broadcasts Ctrl+Backspace or Alt+Backspace, those windows would not assist, but left/right shift+Backspace works fine. So I would check that first

Sorry for the delayed reply and thank you lax you were spot on! Logical thought and I have a fickle relationship. I had
bound the key and overlooked a detail when eliminating possible causes from the list. Well I had unknowingly
bound the key but thought Id sufficiently checked for that being the cause.

So totally my fault and problem solved.

On a happy note, my first quad team hit 80. Prot pally 3 x ele shamans and the wife healing...loving every moment =))
