Confused about Key Maps vs Duplicate

Hello all,

Sorry for the question that's been asked a hundred times... So I used to raid progressively dual boxing my tank+healer and I wanted to get back into it. Keyclone is so old that I wanted to switch to ISBoxer since I used it in EQ2.

I'm having a few problems. It could be my mentality from when I used Keyclone, so I got used to 'repeating' everything, which worked... but I had to constantly turn it on/off, and would accidentally hit stuff.

I find I -really- like ISBoxer because I can make a 'Click-through panel' (Click-bars I think they're called?) around my Clique and control my healer accurately, and very well. Few issues such as can't see CDs etc etc - Something I'll fix later.

However, outside of Auto-following and using my right arrow I can't move him, at all. Currently I have it set so my middle click will switch 'Mapping On'. This is a "semi" solution but I don't like it. I have basically everything mapped (Straight key push, no remap.) and when I middle click the tank sits there like an idiot, but I can nuke on the healer. BUT I can't use WASD to move, which is a problem.

Even as I was setting it up, I felt like I was doing it wrong (Making ~70 key maps that are literally just replicating buttons. No different than blacklisting a ton of stuff and using repeat mode).

The main reason I'm trying to not use Repeat mode is when I hold right click and drag on my warrior, my shaman ALSO moves. Which is no bueno for a healer.

I'd like to be able to actively control my warrior with 1-==, and control my shaman with NumPad
I'd like to be able to move my shaman easily, even if that means disabling Map Keys so WASD controls him
Outside of 1-7 every key for each of them is different. I have this habit from when I used KeyClone

Please let me know if you have any questions and I would greatly appreciate any feedback. It's kind of driving me insane.

Re: Confused about Key Maps vs Duplicate

There is nothing wrong with a bunch of extra mapped keys, even 70 of them. It actually depends on your playstyle, and knowledge of ISBoxer capabilities (which will grow).

But don't put them in the Always On Key Map, because.... they are Always On i.e. they don't ever get turned off. The Always On group is for things that should be always on, no matter the state of the Key Maps enable/disable. This is because it holds mapped keys like Activate Maps, which enables and disabled Key Maps (and if you disabled it, how would you run it so you could re-enable).

So, you extra mapped keys should be in the Combat/Non-Combat Key Maps. Which one doesn't really matter, but it is a good idea to separate based on function, if nothing else so it is easier to find at a later point.

Also, I can't really see why your movement wouldn't work. They should, unless you have mapped your movement keys aswell. You shouldn't need to, at least not for the main character as any keys that are not mapped should just fall through to the active game. If you main driving keys are WASD, then don't map them.
Movement keys, when you do map them, such as for setting up alt controls, need to have the "Hold this keystroke when..." option selected, so the key is "held" when you hold it down, like when you are moving. Without it, then ISBoxer will just send a keystroke when you press the key, regardless of whether you hold it down or not.

If sharing your profile, it is easier to use the method outlined here... http://www.isboxer.com/wiki/Configuration_Sharing

Re: Confused about Key Maps vs Duplicate

Thanks for the info Bob!

I didn't pay much attention to the type (Always On, Combat, etc etc.) But I didn't bind anything that is used on my main, on my alt. I will look more into how I want to alternate their binding. Would be interesting to have limitation on some of the buttons.

The movement one I -couldn't- figure. As soon as I map (With HOLD on) It will work for my Slave#1 everytime. Rather Map is on, or not. And my Primary can't move, at all. I even disabled white/black lists in case it was the culprit

Thanks for the suggestion - Once I get home I will upload the configuration. I wasn't aware that was an option.

I think at this point I will also likely re-bind my G Keys (Logitech keyboard/mouse) to use Cntrl+Alt+Shirt 1-6 to use nukes on my Slave1 when I'm not healing. Right now I click the Click Bar, but that isn't optimal for me, in my setup.

I can understand the benefit of the Clickbar if I had multiple of the same classes. I'd like to understand ISBoxer more since it works in so many games (Mainly EQ2 - The other game I like to dual box in) So def trying to figure it out.

EDIT: I just re-read what you said about Movement. So I'm a bit confused - I don't want him to ALWAYS be able to move, but when I turn "Map Key On" I want my WASD to control him, instead of my main. So I should put it under 'Combat + Non-Combat' for a Mapped Key? I'll try some more ideas once I get home.

Re: Confused about Key Maps vs Duplicate

if you have the time, then the following video series are good to watch to see what you can do. https://youtu.be/jWYUvNGoEQI

This one is a Mapped Key primer, which may help you begin to understand the possibilities of mapped keys (which is actually pretty mindblowing when you get into some of the advanced capabilities). https://youtu.be/8lzHM_SmFvk

There are a couple of others that are definitely worth going through, but certainly those above are the better starter ones.

And then there is the "Pro Config", which will really blow your mind.. https://youtu.be/cONmD2E69nA

Well senor Bob! I must thank you whole-heartedly. Normally I hate watching videos but that Pro line was amazing. I finally managed to set my stuff up way better, including by spec. I'm still having a few issues - Some how I broke Movement again and I forgot how I got it to work in the first place!

I had a few questions and was hoping for some additional guidance.

I have posted my config as of this moment at http://pastebin.com/XUrLMu3Y - Bit laggy due to size. If there is two Profiles, it's 'TankHealerProDuo'.

Something to know - Slave1 is ALWAYS 'Viskar' the shaman. This may change in the future so I'm trying to never use 'target Viskar' logic, but I may have it on something?
I'm having issues getting the Interrupt one to work. I have it set to Shift-Q. Currently it's just causing neither of my Shift-Q's to work.
-- Haven't invested the time, but I think I understand how to get it to work.
Still having issues getting Movement to work. I ONLY want WASDEQ to work on Viskar -when- I use Middle Mouse (Which turns on Key Mapping)
-- Bob assisted me in resolving. The key is to use 4(or 6) independent re-maps to make Shift-W (In my case) become W on the 2nd screen
The DPS Rotation I have set for Viskar - Resto, I finally used the logic you see to get it to work. I kept having an issue where it'd go back to Step 1 even though the Advanced says 'Don't for 20 seconds'. Is this setup ideal? I'm torn on it because the castsequence macro is breaking semi-often, but not constantly.
-- Managed to get it working. I turned it into a 6 step process. I made the entire 6 steps take ~17 seconds, and the entire DPS Rotation is set to repeat after 18 seconds.
I currently have two repeated windows - One so I can 'drop spell effects' loosely on his screen, and another that allows me to click through to his Heal Frames to heal people. How can I may a 'Vid FX' so I can see some of his cooldowns/mana? I tried following the Wiki but all I could do is make an ENTIRE print out of his screen. I couldn't choose JUST 'this'. The video I found showing how to do it in Rift was using an older UI and I didn't see the options he used.
-- You have to make a Vid Source on Slave1, and Vid Viewer on Main. Easy enough.
Is there a way to make it similar like I saw in the demo video where he used the 'All interact' and everyone went up and started swinging, but for range? Like to get close enough to start casting and stop? I'm assuming not, but essentially i'd like a way for my healer to run up to ~30 yards from enemy, and stop. Right now I cancel auto follow, but that doesn't always work.
-- Still working on this, I don't believe it is possible.

If I can think of anything else I'll add it. It's bedtime now, though! Main priority is figuring out the movement issue, for sure. I would love to be able to move him swiftly. The interrupt one is a 'bonus', and the rotation is generic and only for 'during downtime healing wise' so it isn't pressing. plus he's at least ~usually~ casting SOMETHING at the moment.

The Vid FX (Screen Capture?) I would love to figure out so I can see his mana/cooldowns actively.

Also WoW specific - Does anyone know how to do a macro so it casts SpellB if SpellA is on CD? This used to be doable with /cast !SpellA but this seems to have been broken. Likely intentionally due to botting.

Thanks again for all your help!

Edit: I was able to get Vid FX working. I now have a tiny sample shot of my healers Mana + His CDs, + his entire screen. (The purpose of that box is mouse control - I can hit his buttons to drop ground effects, then use that box to control where they go. It's working far better than I expected. I can also use the mouse to move him slightly via the box if need be (Or rotate the camera)
http://imgur.com/a/xgGyF
For an example. I'm working on the layout so far. The reason the 'bottom left box' with the CD tracker looks so big is because things pop beside/above it when I drop specific abilities. It isn't dead space.
The unit frame is showing his cast bar under him, also.
