EQ,New User,Pro-Config (I think) - Single Assist (for adds)

Bought ISBoxer sub when the new EQ Ragefire progression server was unlocked. I am boxing 3 toons, and my son is boxing 3 toons - we work together in a group of 6.

I'm trying to figure out the most elegant way to target and deal with adds. (I'm at work, so this is all from memory - )

I've studied ISBoxer fairly extensively in the last week, so I have a decent handle on the basics of Pro-Config (oxymoron?). It seems to be working flawlessly: follow from any, assist from any, assist from any on pull, pull rotation, DPS rotation, etc. The general actions for the group are all in non-combat key maps (sit, stand, follow, assist, etc).

The combat is virtualized.

Small group, small pulls, and our outdoor crowd control on an overpull is for the Necro to snare and fear. So the thought is - I'd be playing on my "main" a bard, we're all killing a single pull. A pather comes by, I click a hotkey for CC. The Necro (or whoever later down the line), and only the Necro, changes targets - does some magic, and buys us some time.

Initially, I found that if I used the non-combat key map assist, everybody changes target - which I understand. So I tried sending the assist, just to the Necro Action Group, but this acted very odd (A pop-up about sending a keystroke to a target that already had a list of <SLOT> type targets).

So, I'm just trying to figure out how to have 1 of my guys assist the active window - I can figure out the rest of it....

The message you likely saw was to stop you from creating an infinite loop of Actions based upon assist. People will sometimes configure something to send to a specific set of windows, which then sends to another specific set of windows (part of the original set included), which then just starts the loop all over again. These infinite loops cause very weird and unwanted behavior when assisting, and will most likely eventually crash game clients.

There are multiple ways to go about setting up what you want, but without seeing your profile (and knowing exactly what you're trying to modify in it), I don't think anyone can give you a concrete answer as to what you will need to do.

What you are describing is you saw this popup.


This message is trying to tell you that you are calling a Do mapped key action with a group target, and the mapped key which you are calling also has an action with a group target, and that chances are you probably don't want a group to tell another group to do something.

In the way I setup to get this popup to appear, I would be telling my Necro ATG to call Assist Me, and they would send Assist Me to all other windows. So if I had 1 character in the Necro ATG, then all other characters would then turn around and Assist the Necro. Not too useful as they probably have the same target. If there were multiple characters in the Necro ATG then each character in the Necro ATG would then call Assist Me and send that to all characters except themselves, which means that other characters would get an Assist Me from multiple sources. Who do they Assist??

It's a bit of a hard one to comprehend, but work it through slowly. The message does make sense.

Anyway, you probably want to do it the long way around, in that you want to use a Named WOW Macro Action to call the Macro directly with a Target of Necro, rather than the Do Mapped Key Action. So then when your main changes Target to the Panther, you then hit your NecroAssist hotkey, and only the Necro receives the Assist Me call.

I'll post the config when I get home, understand it leaves others to poke in the dark trying to resolve the issue.

I may try to copy the Assist non-combat hotkey into a set of virtualized combat hotkeys with a target of the Necro Action Group. And repeat this for each class action group.

Yes, I was editing my post to say that you might want to look into doing this for... reasons..., but you've picked that up already, so cool.

No they don't. I just happened to load a WOW profile to do some quick editing to get the message and confused myself.
