Help me please! Mapping my keys

Hi,

I'm new to IS Boxer and loving it, I'm playing it with WoW. 2 minor issues which, although minor, are becoming really frustrating! Please help me, if you can, with the below:

1) Key Binds

By default when using the initial setup wizard, keys 1 - 5 work really well and target the target of my target and carry out an action. This is perfect.

I've quickly run out of keys with 1 - 5 (!!) and have followed the video tutorial on key mapping, as well as the written version, step by step to set it up.

The keybinds work perfectly, however anything outside of 1 - 5 don't target the target of my current window. How can I fix this? to give you an example, I have Moonfire linked to Shift + E on all 5 windows. When I press it, it only fires off on my current window.

If I cast Wraith first though (bound to 1) all windows cast wraith, but I can then use any other keys too - as there is a target selected.

This is my biggest issue. Please help!

2) Chatting

I turn key mapping off to chat, however it glitches out pretty bad. I can't even do some things, such as type upper case F for example. I have a feeling this is related to my above point, or some form of key mapping. I also have to type fairly slow, as if I type too fast some keys get mixed up, or extra spaces or added, or other random things. My typing is fairly accurate, and I've tested various things too like typing fast, and it's definitely an issue with my ISBoxer setup.

I've set up simple mapped keys as in the tutorial video, and I've bound every key as I do when playing WoW normally (i.e. not multiboxing) - for the sake of absolute clarity, here are the keys I have mapped:

q, s + q
e, s + e
r, s + r
t, s + t
f, s + f
s + g (I use just 'g' for Interact with Target, so don't bind this to mapped keys)
z, s + z
x, s + x
c, s + c
v, s + v

So basically, half of my keyboard is mapped. But surely turning off mapped keys helps? or is it more lag + WoW on 5 game clients which is causing this?

Thanks guys, if you could help with this is would be hugely appreciated. I have some more questions about running melee groups, but that isn't essential for now :-)

Use the Mapped Key Wizard, choose Assist and Broadcast as the type of Mapped Key. Ideally those Mapped Keys should be created in the FTL DPS Keys Key Map.

Without seeing your ISBoxer config my guess is that you made the Mapped Keys in a new Key Map which is not toggled by Activate Maps by default. See FAQ. You could also just put all your Mapped Keys in FTL DPS Keys and then the default toggle will work. Or you could use the Mapped Key Wizard to make another Key Map Toggler in Control. If you give it the same Hotkey (Shift+Alt+M) then both will be toggled together.

Re: Help me please! Mapping my keys

Thanks for the super quick reply. I'm in the office until late this evening (own business, go figure!) so will try it a little later.

Just some quick fire questions:

- Should I delete the mapped keys I've set up, and then start fresh with the Mapped Key Wizard as you suggest? I didn't set it up with Assist and Broadcast, so I'd imagine you're correct.

- Not being in front of that PC right now, is FTL DPS one of the default profiles? if so, that does indeed make sense. P.S. what does FTL mean?

- I can provide my ISBoxer config, however I did indeed make a new group of Mapped Keys, as you have guessed, so it sounds like that could fix the issue. Thinking about it further, even when I turned mapped keys off my druids were turning into cat form a lot and back to caster as I have 'E' bound to change to cat form. So this does make sense, as it wouldn't have turned mapped keys off at all - when I thought it had.

Again, thank you for the quick reply.

_____

Slightly off topic (but hopefully quick) is I plan to make a melee group over the weekend. I have followed the interact with target tutorial (but not tried it yet) but how do you ensure the melee characters keep interacting with target? do you just set up a macro for the most spammed ability to also interact with target?

I tried it (briefly) with my balance druids as a test, and it seems they would simply run to the target and if I move, they stay in place and I need to hit interact with target again!

Thanks
Andy

At this early stage I would, yes.

FTL DPS Keys is the name of a Key Map created by the Quick Setup Wizard for WoW. See ISBoxer Wiki FAQ for the definition of FTL. You don't need to understand any of that to use ISBoxer because ISBoxer does it all for you.

I can provide my ISBoxer config, however I did indeed make a new group of Mapped Keys, as you have guessed, so it sounds like that could fix the issue. Thinking about it further, even when I turned mapped keys off my druids were turning into cat form a lot and back to caster as I have 'E' bound to change to cat form. No need for a config in this case. You have confirmed all my guesses were correct.

You can't macro Interact with Target.

You have it working correctly then. If you want your slaves to follow you you need to press your follow hotkey. If you want them to interact with the target again you need to press your IWT Hotkey (or add it to a spam key). Personally I prefer IWT to be a separate key. In PvE I generally only need to press that once every time I change targets. In PvP you are generally better off adding IWT to all of your broadcasted abilities.

Hi Alge,

I just wanted to come back and say thanks. I got home last night and tried what you suggested, it was very straight forward and worked an absolute charm. I've now got 5 Boomkins running dungeons and it's super easy :)

Thanks again
