The list scrolls. If it's too difficult to follow because of that, then use the link provided at the top of my reply.

Shut a few down at a time and then re-test, but make sure they stay shut down. Some processes are told to restart themselves after they are shut down. If that is the case, then they will need to be uninstalled for now. If there is still an issue after shutting down everything in that list, then we will need to see a fresh diagnostic.

You may also want to update the driver for your video card, as well.

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

Are your GPUs in SLI?

If so, have you tried without SLI enabled?
If not, are the GPUs powering different displays, and, if so, are those displays being used in your Window Layout?

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

SLI is not enabled. One card drives two monitors, the other drives one. Displays are all 2560x1600. Displays are in the Windows Layout... Again, the difference between what use to work and and what doesn't work now are the NVidia cards (used to be Radeons) and WIndows 10 vs Windows 8.

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

Here is perhaps another clue. Window layouts that layer the instances on top of each other in one window work. Trying to do two characters where slot two is on either of the secondary monitors fails. I can open up five windows manually and move them around at will without any problems - just doesn't work with InnerSpace.

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

If a stacked Window Layout works, then it sounds like you may have to fallback to that while using an additional dxNothing window to spread out the other game client with a custom VFX Layout.

With that said, what you're describing sounds very similar to the bug that's been in the WoW game client since DX11 was introduced into it, and that's that DX11 won't run on: a Display that isn't set to primary (as seen in Windows) and/or a display that isn't attached to the GPU of the display that is set as primary (in Windows). (Confusing, I know.)

The workaround for this is to use DirectX 9 when launching the game client on a non-primary display, and that's been the fix since the beginning. Now, I understand that you said you've already tried DirectX 9, as mentioned earlier in this thread, but what you describe sounds very similar to this bug (and you seem to be the only person having this issue).

So, to get to the bottom of this...

You have GPU1 (mounted closest to CPU) and GPU2, and you have Display1, Display2, and Display3—how are those three displays attached to the two GPUs, and which display, in Windows, is assigned as primary? It may also help to see your profile.

In addition, if you are using the Window Layout Wizard to create your layouts, are you creating entirely new layouts, or are you picking an already existing layout? You will want to ensure that you are definitely creating a brand new layout (when asked to do so), as pre-existing layouts may contain old data that may conflict (even after something as simple as updating a driver). Pre-existing layouts can be identified by the "(existing Window Layout)" label in their description within the drop-down menu.

Finally, if you're launching game clients from the GPU that only has one display attached to it, then the error you're seeing is most likely connected to the non-primary DX11 bug in the game client, and I think you should triple check those config.wtf files. If you aren't sure if you're editing the files correctly or properly adjusting their game profile(s), in ISBoxer, to use DX9, then you can quickly launch the game clients in a stacked Window Layout, and verify/change the Graphics API in the Advanced section of the game's settings.

And, as a last ditch effort, you can also try connecting everything to only one GPU, restarting your machine if it's running, and then re-creating a brand new Window Layout.

As a bonus, I'll add that launching the game client outside of Inner Space is going to launch it on the primary display in Windows (unless the game client is told to do so differently in its settings). After that, simply dragging it around to different displays doesn't indicate that the issue lies with Inner Space. If a game client launches on a display, then it's tied to that display along with the GPU its attached to, and dragging the game client over to another display adapter, while it will continue to render, will result in a loss of performance due to the fact that the GPU that is supposed to be rendering the game client with hardware, can no longer do so because it's on another display, and therefore ends up being rendered with software instead. This brief explanation is a little difficult to follow when you have an odd number of displays attached to an even number of GPUs.

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

I hadn't changed the WoW System/Advanced setting to Direct X9 before. I did that and carefully edited all the WTF files, replacing the DXD11 value for gxApi with D3D9. The new WTF files had this entry near the top, making it easy to find. It worked. Sorry for the hassle trying to figure this out. Is Blizzard aware of this problem and do they have any interest in fixing it if so? As I add the toons back into the interface, I'm assuming that these steps won't be necessary. Tyvm.

You only have to do one or the other, not both. And, for anyone who stumbles upon this in the future, the value is "D3D9," not "DXD9."

Fantastic.

Personally, I've reported this to them a few times over the last several years.

It won't be if you normally play using DX9, as new characters created in ISBoxer copy their virtual config.wtf file from the main config.wtf file. However, as bob showed earlier in this thread, ISBoxer offers a DX9 specific game profile for users to choose from for their characters.

Re: WoW is unable to start up 3d acceleration

Oops... Sorry, you're right (will attempt to edit the typo) - the entry is (for those who need clarification):

SET gxApi "D3D9"

in the character's WTF file ("myToonName.wtf") located in the folder (aptly named) - .../World of Warcraft/WTF
