Monk 4box builds in ROS

Heyho

Since you dont see alot of Content towards MBing Monks i´d like to talk a llittle about viable builds for The Monks.

7 sided strike (1 monk has cyclone strike)
Serenety (2nd rune)
Epiphany (last rune)
(4 diffrent matras)

Crippling Wave (3rd rune)
Lashing Tail Kick (without cindercoat the corpion sting, with Cindercoat the 1st firerune)

What build are you using?

Re: Monk 4box builds in ROS

I haven't experimented with an all monk team yet, but Ellay posted a build over on Dual-Boxing that he's experimenting with at http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/5042 ... post388935

Generally, it seems like you'd want to throw in exploding palm/the flesh is weak somewhere, on at least one monk, wouldn't you?

Seems like epiphany would make it hard to keep the monks grouped up....

Re: Monk 4box builds in ROS

I am multiboxing 4 Monks ATM, as I want to have Inna set on the one that I use for support for my main team of 4. Inna's 4 set buff is that your Monk spread all Mantras (passive part) to the full team... So I need 4 parts, or even better 3 parts and that nice ring that cuts the number of piece required.

Basically I hotkey'd Cyclone Strike + Implosion on different keys among the Monks, so that I can round-robin it and not be out of mana. Same goes for Breath of Heaven + Circle of Life, I round-robin so I can heal big time despite the 15s timer.

Oh, and I love the ligthing tormadoes all over the screen from 4x Sweeping Wind + Cyclone :)

Re: Monk 4box builds in ROS

4 Monks is prolly the fastest combo I've tried for low difficulty and with enough damage, even T1-3. Try this build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/m ... hVS!cZZcZc

It works with 2 handed weapons and 1 handed weapons if you have enough CDR to have your Epiphany ready before you run out of spirit. Get at least 40% CDR so it is available in less than 40 secs. Setup Epiphany in roundrobin and group your monks in 2 groups so there's 2 monks in your party doing damage with Tempest Rush + Epiphany 95% of the time. If Epiphany loads in 35 secs, (lasts 15 secs) in 20 secs you will have it again. In those 20 secs, you have the second group of 2 monks with Epiphany up, so basically your party doesn't have Epiphany only for 5 secs which is nothing.

Also round robin Breath of Heaven Zephyr for permanent 30% movement speed. Have 1 monk with Mantra of Conviction Annihilation for 30% movement speed after killing something which is most of the time cause of Epiphany. Seven Sided Strike instantly kills packs and when u dont have it available, just Tempest Rush with Epiphany which is good enough to kill anything really fast. You can either use the rune with the highest damage or the one that has the lowest cooldown to "spam" it.

Move down in difficulty until you can kill white mobs with Tempest Rush + Epiphany on a single pass. You will be running at 110% movement speed most of the time and you can clear a Rift faster than any class. I dunno how much it takes me to do a Normal Act 1 Bounty run but its extremely fast compared to other combos I've tried.

Important items:

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/item/cindercoat
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/item/magefist
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/stone-of-jordan
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/hexing-pants-of-mr-yan

Stack as much damage to Fire Skills as you can and dexterity. 50% crit chance and the least amount of attack speed you can. You can add attack speed as long as you have high enough cooldown reduction to have Epiphany right before you run out of spirit. Done correctly, u can Tempest Rush permanently and have 2 monks hitting EVERYTHING, even breakable items in the whole screen. If you go with 1 handers, you might need 1 fist weapon with Spirit Regen and/or a Spirit Stone also with spirit regen, or just play with your skills to get enough spirit regen. SoJ with spirit regen is prolly BiS for this build but not sure if those drop anymore. I have one lvl60 that dropped right before RoS that has 5 primary stats including Fire damage, dex, crit chance, damage to elites and spirit regen.

Most ppl that talk about Tempest Rush build with Epiphany will recommend you to have enough spirit regen so it matches or its higher than your attacks per second, reason why they always talk about 2H weapons for Tempest Rush. U don't need that. U need to have enough spirit regen to sustain Tempest Rush for those 20+ secs where u dont have Epiphany. Once u have it, u will be back at 100% spirit in a few secs because of the huge regen u get from it.

But if u don't wanna invest time doing the math for spirit regen, just go with 2 handers like:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/the-flow-of-eternity
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/maximus
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/warstaf ... eral-quang

The Warstaff of General Quang is great cause you can have 1 monk with Tempest Rush Bluster and StrongArm Bracers for additional 30% party damage. And since Bluster is Fire, if u have a Cindercoat, Tempest Rush channel will cost 30% less spirit.

Sets that will help u farm higher Torments:

Aughild's
Captain Crimson's
Born's
Blackthorne's
Sunwuko's
Inna's

Inna's 4 pieces is overrated IMO and not necessary at all. The 3 piece effect is more than enough. You can have 3 different sets with Ring of Grandeur, sometimes even 4 sets at the same time. 3 pieces of Inna's to get the 4 set effect will limit you to most likely 2 sets only. Sunwuko's 2 set effect is nice if you go with 2 handers but wouldn't suggest the 4 piece set because the effect sucks for Tempest Rush builds since you don't tank and the decoy will blow while u are off screen and hit nothing. I rather go with Aughild's, Born's and Captain's sets which don't need u to be extremely lucky. U can farm and craft those sets very easy. Devastator can be a good weapon too.

Going higher in Torment will most likely require 1 handed weapons. Thunderfury, Fulminator, Burning Axe of Sankis, Devastator, Odyn Son, Sun Keeper, etc. can scale your damage by a LOT, specially the ones that proc AoE effects. Doesn't matter if they proc lightning. As long as they proc a lot and do AoE damage while u rush, its fine.
