Curious how to stop using spells when typing

I am quite new to this and I managed to get my keys bound to what i enjoy using alt 1-5 e q x z t h, etc etc but when i am just sitting trying to type to people spells go off and such and it is incredibly annoying, How do i go about setting up these maps properly?


Also I would like to know how to sync the cameras and mouse so i can have all my shamans cast earthquake in the same location without having to look over at the other screens all the time using broadcast, a step by step explanation would be greatly appreciated

The usual answer is to press Shift+Alt+M to disable your Key Maps when you would like your assigned Hotkeys to do something different than they're assigned to do.

What I do myself is point the camera on my "slaves" downward at all times, which helps in performance and when I need to aim an aoe. I do this by temporarily turning on broadcasting (shift+alt+r) and dragging with the mouse -- when I go into the instance or start questing or whatever. Unless I switch to another window for some reason, I don't really need them to point upward.

That helps with the aiming part.

To cast the actual spell and drop it, there is a template built into the Mapped Key Wizard called "Straight Key Broadcast Plus Click". This will generate a Mapped Key to start the spell cast, along with a "Send Next Click Action" to temporarily enable Mouse Repeat to cast the spell. Then you pretty much just aim somewhere in the upper middle of the screen or wherever you want to drop it in relation to your "slaves" -- since they're looking downward at themselves -- and click.


I'll have to add this to the FAQ.

I have a key bound to 'Set View 1'? in the WoW keymap which gets broadcast to all windows when I press Ctrl+Shift+V. This sets the view to the same location on all toons. Then, if they are facing the right direction, I can do a 'Send Next Click' to all others and target on the main tank. It takes a bit of practice to figure out where to click on the main window so the slaves target the right spot.
