Aurgument in String Error at Login

Lax...HELP!!!

Things were working just fine yesterday but today when I go to login I get this error:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
System.ArgumentNullException: String reference not set to an instance of a String.
Parameter name: string2
at System.Globalization.CompareInfo.IndexOfString(Void* pSortingTable, Int32 win32LCID, String source, String value, Int32 startIndex, Int32 count, Int32 options)
at System.Globalization.CompareInfo.IndexOf(String source, String value)
at com.turbine.launcher.UserControls.LaunchControl.LaunchTheGame() 1/25/2011 4:33:20 PM
1/25/2011 4:33:20 PM
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Is this something I did? I noticed that there was an update to Inner Space, not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Thanks in advance

Edit by lax: Removed the really long log file so people can read this thread for the solution

Re: Aurgument in String Error at Login

I'm also getting an error when logging in through Innerspace, but not when I login directly (using Turbininvoker.exe)

Edit: It appears the '-usetdm' flag is causing an issue.

Edit: Both the 'No Patch' and 'No Patch (Alternate)' profiles give cause the login to crash with an argument error

Last Edit: The default profile works correctly and allows me to launch all six toons

Re: Aurgument in String Error at Login

There has not been an Inner Space update, especially not since yesterday.

If this is now giving an error, it's because Turbine patched the launcher. I'll take a look. If there is no longer a way to prevent the launcher from trying to patch, then you may have no choice but to use multiple LOTRO folders.

Re: Aurgument in String Error at Login

Hey Tanker,

Thanks for posting that. I looked at my IS config and am using the Win7 one that has -usetdm and -invoker in it. I haven't tried the Default Lotro one yet, I don't think it has -usetdm in it but I'm not sure.

And how do you change that in IS config?

edit Thanks Lax, we posted at the same time. :)

Re: Aurgument in String Error at Login

Okay as tanker mentioned, LOTRO no longer requires any parameters passed to TurbineInvoker.exe in order to launch multiple windows. Hooray!

The No Patch profiles will be removed and I'll get that "how to get lotro working" guide updated. :)

In the top window of ISBoxer, expand the 'Characters' tab, click a character, then in the lower right window change the 'game profile' to 'lord of the rings default profile'.

Re: Aurgument in String Error at Login

To update an existing Game Profile to fix this issue:
1. Right click IS in the system tray (notification area) and select Configuration
2. Select the Game Configuration tab
3. Select the Game in the first drop-down
4. Select the Game Profile in the second drop-down
5. Remove the -usetdm parameter (but not -invoker if it's there)
6. Apply
