How to Multi-box with Eve-Online
and
ISBoxer Build #37
Written by Guardian

Goal – To run multiple clients all doing the same thing ( ratting / mining ). This is NOT macoring and is perfectly fine according to CCP.
What the end result will look like
( I use 5 clients at 1 time)

The number of clients you can run is based on how many you own and how fast your computer is. I can run 5 clients on a dual core Opteron 180 2.4ghz PC with some stuttering issues from time to time. The same 5 clients on a Quad Core Intel 3.0 ghz machine runs smooth as glass.
-------------------------
Step 1) Go to http://isboxer.com/index.php/get-isboxer and follow the directions

Step 2) Once Inner space and ISBoxer Suite are installed then your 1st step is to add your account names to ISBoxer.

Step 3) Right click on Character Set in ISBoxer and make a new set. Then right click on “slots” and add your characters into there one by one. There are no settings in Character Set I have found useful to change.

Step 4) Now that your clients are in ISBoxer, you can then make “window layouts” to tell ISBoxer how you want to view your clients on your desktop. This is important, because you cannot run multiple clients at full screen and see what’s going on with them with this.

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3786 ... ayout2.png

Step 5) Ok, there are some simple client settings you need to do. Please refer to the photos I posted about them.'
http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/4637/clientsetup.png
http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/1227 ... setup2.png

Step 6 ) Make sure I didn’t misguide you. At this point you need the following.
- All your clients listed in ISBoxer under “Characters”
- A “Character Set” made with the clients you want to launch
- A “Window Layout” that will display your X Number of clients on your PC screen
- Your Client setup properly

Step 7 ) Go ahead and right click inner space on the bottom taskbar, > ISBoxer Character Sets > Launch your Characters!

Only 5 clients?

Pft, isboxer is capable of MUCH more ;).

Doesnt need a hardcore system either, that was running well (once everything was cached) on 4gb.

Great guide though, just wish it was around when i first started using ISBoxer.

Re: HowTo: Setup ISBoxer and Eve-Online ( Video/Write up/Pics )

Has anyone tried using the new shortcuts with EVE? I'm having a lot of trouble getting keymaps setup and broadcasting working properly, mostly becasue it's all trial and error.

Have managed to undock three times becasue I didn't realise mouse broadcasting was on...

Also, is the fullscreen workaround required for _key_ broadcasting? Becasue I don't want to have multiple installations of EVE to use for solo/multiboxing amd setting the fullscreen option messes EVE up when playing solo.

Use the Virtual File Wizard and select EVE Online. This will create a prefs.ini (video and audio settings) and core_public__.dat (stored account name for login) for each character. The Quick Setup Wizard also sets that up automatically when you select EVE Online from the first drop-down box. This is going to set it up so that your settings (fullscreen) for solo will be unaffected by your multiboxing setting. You don't need multiple installations and it shouldn't affect your solo setting

And no, I believe it's just for mouse broadcasting. The "Make game believe it is foreground window" may also be sufficient. Come to think of it, see if the game has background FPS limiting that can be disabled, if not you can disable ISBoxer's FPS limiting per Slot in your Character Set (beneath where you also select CPU cores)

Re: HowTo: Setup ISBoxer and Eve-Online ( Video/Write up/Pics )

Since Robin started this thread and I'll be going along in the same vein, I'll necro-rez (yet again) and not start a new thread. Basically, using the video fx feeds (hereafter referred to as feeds) you can run all clients full-screen and see what going on with each one.

What I roughly outline below assumes you're using a single PC. Feeds currently do not translate between PCs in ISBoxer. There's also a small difference between single & dual monitors, the difference being whether you'll be using "dxnothing" or not.

What you'll be doing is using feeds to display parts of each slave client on either the master's client (as an overlay / single monitor) or on a black canvas (dual monitor). Whatever isn't explicitly described below can be found elsewhere on the ISBoxer site.

1. Change all EvE clients to run full-screen and with the same resolution across all clients. Same client rez is requirement for proper mouse broadcasting sync. Also set all EvE clients to use the same monitor if using dual monitors.

1a. If dual monitors, set "dxnothing" to launch on the monitor the game clients aren't using.

2. On each of your slaves, create a source feed for each part of the client you want to see or interact with remotely. Ex: Control wheel, overview, target bar, etc.

3. On your master client or "dxnothing" canvas, create a viewer feed for every source feed. Here you can specify whether the feed will be visual only or interactive (mouse only or mouse and keyboard).

That's it, in a nutshell. I'd suggest you create a single source feed first, get that source's viewer feed to function properly and then move on, learning as you go. After that, you can create keymaps to enable/disable the viewers, client functions, etc.

Also, Lax this post needs a sticky.

Re: HowTo: Setup ISBoxer and Eve-Online ( Video/Write up/Pics )

I can't sticky this thread because it recommends manually building your ISBoxer Character Set, slots, window layout, etc instead of using the Quick Setup Wizard. Since the original post, the wizard actually sets up most of what's written in this thread (character set, slots, window layout, the virtual files, and even CPU management). All it doesn't do is change anything in your EVE config (and of course it doesn't do Video FX for you) ;)

It needs re-written for current content. If someone wants to do a fresh writeup based on using the Quick Setup Wizard, I'd be happy to sticky (etc) and even offer free subscription time or cash.
