Clients randomly crashing

Had an issue for the last few days. Every now and again the client completely locks up and dumps me back at my desktop. It doesn't close EQ however, just minimizes them. When I try to maximize them they're clear and won't come up. I then have to manually end task for every client. When I try to log back in all my guys are still in game and need kicking. This is always a nail-biting experience as I usually have a very buffed enchanter pet sat there waiting to kill me. :P Anyone else had this issue?

Re: Clients randomly crashing

We can take a look at a compatibility diagnostic report, but you might also want to send Lax (lax@lavishsoft.com) a trace diagnostic, as well, and he can probably tell you what's causing the lock-up.

That's impossible since I have PMs disabled on this forum. Just paste the link in the thread so that other people can look at it, as well.

Re: Clients randomly crashing

I would try without Raptr installed (part of your graphics drivers). It is a known piece of software that causes issues with multiboxing (so much so it is noted on the wiki), and you can see it is hooking into the game process.

Re: Clients randomly crashing

Had a couple days without issue but this morning It's happened again. Uninstalled Raptr already and just double checked to make sure no associated processes were running. Seems there is still an issue, however if it's once every couple of days it's easy to live with :)

Re: Clients randomly crashing

That's cool that it is down to something more manageable. The below is if you want to see if you can eliminate them.

If you wanted to keep going, then the next thing to remove would be Nortons. That has also been the cause of a few issues previously (although it is usually much better now). This one is less obvious as it doesn't hook the processes themselves, but rather has windows kernel hooks, so you need to uninstall it to see if the crashes stop.

After that it becomes trickier to pick a cause, but recently there have been AMD/ATI issues, although you'd need a different gfx card to check that one out. The only other thing would be if the Corsair HID has an overlay module, make sure it is disabled. After that the ideas run a bit thin.

Re: Clients randomly crashing

Awesome, thanks for the reply mate! Really helpful stuff :) I've just crashed for the first time today after around 3 hours play and I had a window popup over my taskbar saying my graphics driver has stopped working and restarted. I've checked and made sure my drivers are up to date so unsure what else I can do if the card is the issue. It's a radeon 7700.
