ISBoxing EverQuest: General Utility

SCOPE
This section will encompass various General Utility Mapped Key concepts such as:
  1. Group Invisibility / vs. Undead; Bard Invisibility and Selos Song of Travel
  2. Group Levitation and Shrink
  3. Breaking Invisibility
  4. Camp Desktop
  5. Corpse recovery
  6. Sit / Stand Toggle
  7. Stop Cast / Song

THE CONCEPT
The Invisiblity, Levitate, and Shrink Mapped Keys will continue to build off the Placeholders created in Main and Alternate Character Management by assigning Keybinds, /casts, /textstrings, /useitems or what have you for each Character or Character Set. We will also assign some default actions to fall back upon in the event a Character does not have an appropriate action, for example, brand new Characters which have no AAs or Spells; or Clerics which do not get Invisibility. Once again, the sheer multitude of options to Invis, Lev, or Shrink oneself is beyond the scope of this Guide. Rather, this section is to present various general concepts to facilitate group synergy.

GROUP INVISIBILITY / IVU, BARD INVISIBILITY, AND SELOS SONG OF TRAVEL
There are various issues to take into consideration when casting Invisibility. Most importantly, we need to make sure our Characters are in a consistent state with auto attack turned off.

Due to /assist lag it is possible for a Character /assisting to not acquire a target. This occurs when you hit /assist, the Character receiving the /assist action targets the main, /assists and turns on attack but the mob dies prior to registering in the receiving Characters Target Window. In the event this occurs, the Character receiving the /assist command will be running around with attack on when it should be off. This same out of sync attack state may also occur when a mob dies to a damage shield without clearing a particular Characters Target Window.

In order to prevent an out of sync attack state from breaking Group Invisibility on a non-focused Character, we need to declare a basic default action of /attack off for all Characters. This will be accomplished by assigning a /slash command from the Text Strings Key Map to the "Utility: Invisibility: Fixed" and "Utility: Invisibility: Undead" Character Placeholders as shown in Image 01.

Image
IMAGE 01

BARDS
In the event a Bard will be mixed and matched into any particular Character Set, we need to declare default actions for Bard Invisibility and Selos Song of Travel. For these two special cases, we are going to take a unique approach and wrap those two Placeholders back into the Utility: Invisibility: Fixed Placeholders as shown in Image 02.
  • NOTE: This section can be skipped if one does not have a Bard in any Character Set.

Image
IMAGE 02

Bards are a special case in one other respect; /melody. When casting Group Invisibility / IVU, not only do we need to ensure the Bard has attack off, we also need to ensure any running melody is stopped. In this regard, we will encounter a new Key Map called "Do Self." This Key Map will be a dumping ground for various Mapped Keys which contain the target Self (Window: Current) and do not warrant their own Key Map such as Spellcasting, Useitems or what have you.

"Utility: Attack Off-Stopsong" is a two-step Mapped Key using "Execute a Step when the Hotkey is pressed OR released:"

  • Step 1 is the text string /attack off.
  • Step 2 is the text string /stopsong.

When this Mapped Key is activated, the Bard will turn off attack and also stop any running melody with a single Keypress as shown in IMAGE 03.

Image
IMAGE 03

At this point, we have filled in the blanks for the various Invisibility Placeholders with default actions. Now we need to override those default actions with Character specific actions where relevant:
  1. Select the Character in the top left part of the Toolkit Menu Tree.
  2. Select the Virtual Mapped Keys Tab of the Character.
  3. Fill in the blanks for any Characters which will use their own Keybinds, /casts, /textstrings, or /useitems in place of the defaults.

For Bard Characters, we need to Virtualize overrides for all defaults in the Character Invisibility Placeholders. Obviously the Bard needs a /cast or Keybind /social for the Invis Song and Selos; however, it also needs a Virtual override for Fixed Invis and IVU in order to execute the "Utility: Attack Off-Stopsong" Mapped Key.

Image
IMAGE 04

CLERICS
Image 05 illustrates the use of fallback defaults built into the Character Invisibility Placeholder Mapped Keys. Since Clerics do not have any way of casting regular Invisibility, the ONLY Invisibility Placeholder which needs a Virtual override is "Utility: Invisibility: IVU." This Virtual override will activate a Hotbar Button Keybind with a /social:

  • Line 1: /attack off
  • Line 2: /alt activate 1212 (Group Perfected Invisibility to Undead)

When the Cleric receives an IVU command, it will activate it's own /social via the Keybind. When the Cleric receives a regular Fixed Invisibility command, it will activate the default /attack off Text String. When the Cleric receives an Invisibility or Selos Song command, it will default to "Utility: Invisibility: Fixed," which in turn cascades to the /attack off Text String.

Image
IMAGE 05

DRUIDS
Image 06 illustrates the same principle the Cleric requires, only in reverse. Since Druids do not have any way to cast Invisibility vs. Undead, the ONLY Invisibility Placeholder which needs a Virtual override is "Utility: Invisibility: Fixed." This Virtual override will activate a Hotbar Button Keybind with a /social:

  • Line 1: /attack off
  • Line 2: /alt activate 518 (Shared Camouflage)

When the Druid receives a regular Fixed Invisibility command, it will activate it's own /social via the Keybind. When the Druid receives an IVU command, it will activate the default /attack off Text String. When the Druid receives an Invisibility or Selos Song command, it will default to "Utility: Invisibility: Fixed" which once again activates it's own /social via the Keybind. When Selos is activated, the Druid will have double invisibility; its own fixed duration Shared Camouflage as well as the invisibility built into the Selos Song of Travel.

The benefit of this method: if the Druid should experience a drop in frame rate and break auto-follow, get stuck on the terrain, or otherwise drop out of Selos range it will not become visible and get attacked due to the built-in stacking of its own fixed duration invisibility.

IMAGE 06

SHADOWKNIGHTS
The concept should be familiar by now. Shadowknights are able to cast both regular Invis as well as IVU. Image 07 illustrates a combination override for both Invisibility and Invisibility vs. Undead Placeholders.

Image
IMAGE 07

  • NOTE: The above classes were used as examples only; the actual classes of your particular Characters may differ. If a particular character does not have a way to cast the appropriate utility, leave all Placeholders empty on the Virtual Mapped Keys Tab and it will use the built-in defaults. Simply apply the same concept to override all, none, both, one or the other of the Placeholders.

GROUP LEVITATION AND SHRINK
Group Levitation and Group Shrink will also build off the Placeholders concept used above. These particular utilities are not as critical as Invisibility. We do not need every Character to cast their own Levitation; therefore, these Placeholders will be declared at the Character Set level as shown in Image 08:

  1. The "Levitate: Flight of Eagles" Mapped Key sends a single Keybind to the Druid.
  2. The "Levitate: Perfected Levitation" Mapped Key sends a single Keybind to the Magician.
  3. The "Shrink: No SHM" Mapped Key sends the "Clicky: Shrink" Keybind at the "Placeholders: Character" level to all Characters as there is no class available to Group Shrink.
  4. The "Shrink: SHM" Mapped Key sends the "Clicky: Shrink" Keybind to the Shaman ONLY for Group Shrink.
  • NOTE: Be advised, although not shown in the screenshots, one will also need to assign an actual /cast, /useitem, or Keybind to "Clicky: Shrink" on each Characters Virtual Mapped Keys Tab.

Image
IMAGE 08

Image 09 shows the Character Set defaults for both Levitation and Group Shrink. In these particular cases, we want the Druid to be the primary caster of Levitation and the Shaman to be the primary caster of Shrink (due to the ability to shrink the entire group).

Image
IMAGE 09

Image 10 illustrates a hypothetical Character Set example which does not include either the Druid or the Shaman. In this case, we will need to override the defaults by declaring alternate Mapped Keys for the Levitation and Shrink Placeholders on the Character Set Virtual Mapped Keys Tab.

BREAKING INVISIBILITY
Breaking Invisibility is a simple task with ISBoxer. First we will make an in-game social as follows:

  • Name=Break Invis
  • Line1=/attack on
  • Line2=/stopsong
  • Line3=/attack off
  • NOTE: If one does not have any Bards, the second line containing the /stopsong command may be ommited. For ease of .ini management, I personally copy and paste the same /social to every character regardless of class. The /stopsong command will fall through on non-Bard characters and not have any in-game effect.

Once the in-game social is created, we will once again use a Mapped Key with "Execute a Step when the hotkey is Pressed or Released." Each step will execute a single Action as illustrated in Image 11:

  • Step 1: Keypress Down (Pressed) executes a Variable Keystroke to target the second group member. Between boxes and Mercenaries, there should always be someone in this slot.
  • Step 2: Keypress Up (Released) executes a New Do Mapped Key Action with the appropriate Keybind for your in-game "Break Invis" /social. In order for /attack on to work, you must have first acquired a target.

With a quick double-tap of your Break Invisibility Menu or Clickbar you can now drop Invisibility on all of your characters at the same time in order to initiate quest or translocate text dialogue.

Image 11

CAMP DESKTOP
Image 12 illustrates how ISBoxer can improve your boxing experience with something as simple as logging out. Once again, we will use "Execute a Step when the hotkey is Pressed or Released" to maximize the utility of this Mapped Key. A single Keypress will dismount all of your Characters and execute a new "Window Close Action."

Image
IMAGE 12

CORPSE RECOVERY
This Mapped Key is relatively self-explanatory. It uses the Paste from Clipboard Mapped Key and functions exactly as the /corpse command does in the game to pull your Characters' most recent corpse to them.

Image
IMAGE 13

SIT / STAND TOGGLE
The sit / stand toggle is a two Step Mapped Key used to keep our Characters in sync after buffing, when medding, or when encountering AoE Feign Death during combat:

  • Step 1 will send the text string /stand. Placing /stand in the first Step prioritizes this action over /sit. Used in conjunction with "Reset to Step 1 after 10 seconds" ensures /stand is always the first action to be executed, even if the Mapped Key is not fully cycled during its last use. /Standing first will be used to counter AoE Feign Death spells.
  • Step 2 will send the text string /sit.

In practice, when using the Mapped Key, simply single tap to get all Characters into the standing position; double tap to get all Characters to sit.

Image
IMAGE 14

STOP CAST / SONG
The last General Utility concept is a Button to /stopcast or /stopsong simultaneously on all Characters. This is useful if, for example, one casts Origin on all Characters simultaneously, then realizes the cast needs to be canceled immediately. Rather than making a new Mapped Key, this will be accomplished by using existing text strings in conjunction with Advanced Target Mechanics. There are two aspects of this Button to take into consideration:

  1. The need to ensure classes receive the appropriate /stop command: /stopcast to Casters; /stopsong to Bards; and
  2. The need to avoid the spinning bug where the focused Character starts spinning in circles when a /slash command is entered at the same time as a movement key is being held (think auto-swimming into a corner for skillups).

  • Sending /stopsong to the Bard is simple; set the Target as Class-BRD (as defined in this example).
  • Sending /stopcast is much more tricky. Per Advanced Target Mechanics, one will understand the ~ symbol means NOT. We are going to send /stopcast to the ATG "Current Boxes" (or whatever the equivalent of Window: All is in your particular profile) which are NOT Bards (Bards are receiving /stopsong simultaneously) and which are NOT Self (Window: Current) (to avoid the spinning bug). The final Target appears as "Current Boxes&~Class-BRD&~Self" as illustrated in Image 15.

Image
IMAGE 15

HOTKEYS
Once the Mapped Keys are created, one will need to assign them to a Clickbar or Menu. Stopcast and Levitate have their Targets declared directly within the Mapped Key. The remaining Mapped Keys presented here use "Self (Window: Current)" as their Target. When placed into a Clickbar or Menu, one will need to set the Target on the actual Clickbar / Menu to "Current Boxes" (or whatever the equivalent of "All w/Current" is in your profile). In this manner, All Characters will execute their particular action simultaneously; all will summon their corpse, all will Camp Desktop, all will activate their particular Invisibility /cast, /useitem or /social Keybind.

Re: ISBoxing EverQuest: General Utility

Updated the section on Breaking Invisibility. Using the old method of broadcasting /attack on, /stopsong, and /attack off as simulated text strings on separate Keypress Down / Up Actions was causing issues with the Main Character getting stuck on auto-run while holding a movement key and pressing "/" (think of auto-swimming into a corner for skillups).
