Guild wars 2 launching

I followed hte How to guide and set everything up. ive set up many different games before and pretty good with the tool kit. So im pretty sure that is all set up right. The issue is when i try and launch the game it brings up a launcher and tries to patch it. even though both games folders are up todate. If i launch the game manualy in the game folder each one loads up just finewith no patch needed. what iam i missing.

Re: Guild wars 2 launching

Make sure you have enough room on the drive to have an extra .dat file per installation, which are approximately 17GB each. So if you have two different folders, you will need approximately 35 GBs free, just for the two extra .dat files that will be created. The launcher will launch after it copies the .dat file, so it might take a few minutes.

Re: Guild wars 2 launching

Because of the virtualized gw2.dat, you should not actually need multiple folders.

Thanks for confirming. You may want to update the instructions at viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2308
and mention that the gw2.dat file is copied on the first start-up of each client and will take awhile. When this is happening there is no indication on the screen that it's doing that.

Because of the file's size and the problems we're seeing with this method, I would much rather remove this virtualization and make you use multiple folders (copying the file on your own).

This morning's ISBoxer build -- 40.4.902.1, available through Help->About -- removes the automatic gw2.dat virtualization

Oops, thank you for correcting that, that is what I meant. I was trying to say you just needed the extra room based on how many .dat files were needed.

Was at the end of nearly 20 hours fixing a server :)

Re: Guild wars 2 launching

you need to follow step 3 and beyond in this post. You need two copies of the game...
