VideoFX only works fine with stacked windows

Hello Folks,

Yeah, VideoFX resolution, KeyMaps and Window Layouts... :D

Now fiddling around with this for some days and I am not able to figure my mess out.

Following Layout is working perfectly fine - one screen only:

- Region 1 to 3 is characters (and also the source for the minimap)
- Region 4 is a dxNothing window, displaying all 3 minimaps as I wish

Window Layout for the same:

Once I am going to add the second or third screen to the Layout and displaying Char 2 and 3 on them, the dxNothing is being shown with the on screen resolution I did setup, but the grabbed video is stretched and I have the feeling that the dxNothing window overall is running at 1920x1080:

Window Layout which is my Goal, including the Minimap crop from Region 2 and 3:

For both, I am using a KeyMap to create the VideoFX source and destination:
- 3x Grabbing the Minimap at 1587,43, with a size of 315x315
- 3x Displaying the Minimap in the dxNothing, placed at the correct spaces

And here a debug pastebin of the "not working" configuration:

Maybe somebody of you guys has any clue.

Thanks,
zomed

Re: VideoFX only works fine with stacked windows

Your title says it all. http://isboxer.com/wiki/Video_FX

If the Video FX source region is in a scaled down window, the Video FX viewer will also be affected (i.e. pixellated). This feature is therefore most useful with larger "slave" windows, which do not need to be visible and may be hidden behind other windows. Using a Video FX Layout is ideal, or if you want to roll your own, or do away with the smaller viewers, the 'Stacked full screen' style from the wizard works too. Note that minimizing a window will usually stop it from rendering entirely.

Anyway, I'd say the answer to your problem is actually different.
You should put the DXNothing's region in the Window Layout in it's own swap group, that does not have a RESET region or ACTIVE region.
If you really want the smaller windows of D3, then you will probably need to setup another DXNothing for those too.

Thanks Bob, that works now!

Thought I tried that already, but somehow missed the active and region in the second swap region to be removed:

But why should I have another dxNothing for the smaller screens? You mean having a stacked approach on the middle screen and have the smaller ones displayed as dxNothing on another screen then?
Currently the window layout has the smaller windows already which are displayed on the right screen.

Re: VideoFX only works fine with stacked windows

The reason for setting the smaller screens on another DXNothing would be if you were unhappy with the "zoomed out" or pixelated look to your videofx viewers that are coming from those windows (read the bit I quoted above). As your smaller windows are not really small, the pixilation is not really noticeable, but I can see that the viewers appear more zoomed out that the main active region. It may make it easier to figure out which window is which as it is, so you may like it.
