Why can't I see my old characters?

I have a season account up to 300 paragon points.

I got a new account since it was on sale this weekend and just bought inner space.

I want to use my old witch doctor and make a new one. Is there any reason why I can see any of my previously made toons?

Is there a link explaining how I can see them, or I am SOL?

I also can see any of my friends anymore.

I did make 2 new toons and got them to 10. So playing is fine.

Most commonly this happens because you weren't paying attention when you logged in when launching your character set, and didn't notice that the realm/zone you were selected for changed, so you have switched between US/EU/xx

your right I was on the wrong server, I can change it when I log in through battle net, when only logging in one toon. When I right click inner space and select the group name it doesn't even go through battlenet. It goes straight to the game and does not give me the option to change server.
