DxNothing windows stange behavior on mouse over

Hi,

I setup a 5 box with 1 main and 4 windows at the bottom with Video Fx layout.
It starts ok, with character 1 at the top, and characters 2-3-4-5 at the bottom.
But if I mouse over any character at the bottom (just mouse over, no action), then one character at the bottom is randomly replaced by character 1.
So character 1 shows 2 times: one time in the main window, one time at the bottom.
I have no idea what is going on. I used the default wizard for the layout and don't understand what is happening with ISBoxer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have spent hours already on this.
See screenshots and xml.
Thanks

Re: DxNothing windows stange behavior on mouse over

Replace your layout with one that includes a Home Region for each window, and then you will be drastically less confused. You can still use a Video FX layout :)

I have set a home region for all the slots, but then I get a black window for a character.

Re: DxNothing windows stange behavior on mouse over

Yeah, that's because you set the Home Region for Slot 1 to be the same as the spot every window wants to go when they activate -- so you'll never see it in the background. That's not what you want, you'll want to use the wizard and select a style that is intended to use this option, instead of assigning it on a layout that should not use this option. :)

In your "which option to choose?" screenshot, the description of your selected style in the wizard says "Does not include a home for every window", and the short description just says "Single monitor layout on \\.\DISPLAY1 (Swapping)". You want "Leave Hole" which any of those options WILL include a Home Region for every window.

Thanks Lax

So is that the settings I am supposed to use, with a hole?

It solves the problem of mouse over, but I get a black gap at the bottom

Is this correct? Is there a way to remove the black gap?

Re: DxNothing windows stange behavior on mouse over

You've pretty much just seen the various possibilities though, right?

You either a) don't see a window because you only made room for 4 and didn't tell it to replace the one you switched to
b) tell Slot 1 to -- instead of having a Home Region -- replace the missing window at the bottom when it moves, and now you get this "random" placement of Slot 1
c) leave room for all of the windows and accept that the window you're playing is the missing one at the bottom

... how do you want it to work? ;)

Re: DxNothing windows stange behavior on mouse over

I like how it works without Video Fx layouts.
i.e. character 1 at the top, characters 2-3-4-5 at the bottom.
And when I mouse over a character at the bottom, nothing happens. I just get control of the character.
The swapping of characters happens only when requested (click, push of a button)

I may skip the Video Fx layout for now.
Thanks a lot for your help Lax, that was really helpful :)
