RotMG first time multiboxing and Godlands farming guide.

I have to give big credits to Lax. With out Lax there would be no ISBoxer nor someone to help me fix some critical problems I ran into, as well as creating the links inside this guide. Also, please excuse any spelling / grammar errors.

This guide is split into two parts. I suggest you use the first part to get used to multiboxing and then use the second part for farming Godlands for profit. I would strongly advise against skipping any kind of practice, whether you're new to multiboxing or not, and going straight to my Godlands farming guide. You will probably die many horrible deaths and demand a refund because you can't seem to multibox. This guide expects you to know the basics of Realm of the Mad God and a very basic understanding of how to use ISBoxer, Innerspace, and a very basic concept of multiboxing. Another words, you don't need to be a pro, but you can't be clueless and expect all the work to be done for you. There are plenty of resources outside of this guide that will help you to get started. Also, before you start, don't worry about not having gear or being really good at this game. I didn't have a single piece of gear when I started and I always died in Godlands when I first started playing (with out multiboxing).

Part one: Leveling and first time multiboxing RotMG.

Starting out

So, you want to multibox do yah? Well, first we have to set it up! Follow this guide very closely to get Innerspace to work with Realm of the Mad God http://isboxer.com/index.php/component/content/article/3-general/106-howto-multibox-flash-games-rotmg (hats off to Lax again for this links guide) After you have that finished, it's time to start up ISBoxer. If you have no idea how to use ISBoxer, I suggest you read some guides or play around until you are somewhat familiar with it. For starting purposes, the default key bindings for broadcasting will be sufficient. Depending on how many clients you're running and what kind of cpu you might have, setting up the cpu wizard and screen setup is all up to you. I personally have an i7 cpu with 4 cores (8 hyperthreading cores) and I usually get the best result by roundrobbin settings with 3 clients. For something with 6 clients or whatnot, I generally let the game or the computer decide what the cpu should do.
The screen setup really doesn't matter, it's all gravy. After you have it all setup, it's time to export your settings to Innerspace and start it up for the first time. If you come across any problems, recheck the first link and / or go to the end of this thread for problems and solutions that I found and might solve your problem as well.

Setup

Now that you have all your clients loaded and ready it would be a really wise to right click each window and go to "Quality" and select low. This will help with your fps quite a bit. Now, log into all your characters and find a low populated server that is physically close to your area of residence. This will help you with ping that will factor into keeping your characters together. Because I am lazy and Lax already made a great in game starting guide, feel free to read his http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2175 I don't have much to add other then just swapping out any gear that you might find that is better then what you currently use. The most important thing you can do to keep your characters together (or at least every once in a while) is to use the in game command /teleport (name of your main character). Some easy ways to do this is to type it out and copy it via the ctrl key + C and pasting it with ctrl + v when ever you need to recenter your characters. You can also bind a macro to a key to automatically type it out. And no, I can't teach you how to make a macro, find it out on your own. I simply just don't know how to because my keyboard already has a built in macro feature. The only reason I do this and Lax doesn't seem to suggest to do in his guide is because he has the time to manually move his characters to a central location. However, in my case while farming Godlands or whatnot, you don't have that luxury. You need to be in a central location right that second or you'll die.

Now that we have everything setup, put on a kick ass soundtrack and have at it. Explore around, unlock every class if you want to, find tactics and get a feel for multiboxing. You'll probably spend a few days doing this, sometimes even a week before you're (really) ready for Godlands farming. Your goal at this point is just to get the feel and skills you need, so don't expect any kind of good gear. Profit will come later, so don't be impatient.

Tips for leveling:

- Take it nice and easy. It's leveling and you're getting used to multiboxing Realm of the Mad God which is going to pay off if you put in the time.

- Trains are an easy way to level up fast and are also sometimes difficult to stay with if your characters don't stay together. Just stop every once in a while to regroup and if you're leading the train they will probably stop with you.

- Don't get frustrated when your characters go all over the place. When leveling, the game mechanics randomly assign speed values based on a set of number(s) ( http://forums.wildshadow.com/wiki/realm-mad-god/wizard ). There is no real super effective method to fix this issue. It can be helped with speed rings you might find but just use your teleport command every once in a while or manually move your characters to a central location. This problem will be easy to cure when you're level 20 and you have enough speed rings, speed potions, and / or good character rolls to get a good rounded speed number across all of them. I usually stick around 0-2 speed difference between them to keep it manageable.

- Don't get frustrated when you die or a single character out of your group dies. I've went through probably 20-30+ characters total before I started to get the hang of it. Just re-level the dead character with the rest of your characters at their current level and just readjust his location when he gets too far away from xp.

Part two: Godlands farming

Starting out

The goal of this part of the guide is to get you up and running in order to farm Godlands in Realm of the Mad God for fast and easy pots. This is by no means easy and very few people on the game will support you for multiboxing. You will get people who follow you, name call you, report you, and everything else you can think. But dont let that discourage you, keep chugging along! You've made it this far. And don't worry, I am nowhere near perfect playing Realm of the Mad God, with or with out multiboxing so you don't have to worry about having a fully potted char or amazing dodging skills to farm like I do. I'll tell you my super special secret that should never leave this thread! The answer is simple, priests. Why priests you ask? Well, for starters if you round robbin your healing spell you can space out healing (in my experience 3 or more clients) to produce almost unlimited sustain in Godlands with little gear. The second reason I love them is because of there range. They have the longest range out of any other class, and not to mention they usually roll really high speed, which is perfect for back peddling and shooting into the wave of Gods that are following you. This doesn't mean other classes aren't good for multiboxing. I just found that with 3 priests, you can stay out farming until your characters are full of pots rather then having to go back to the nexus every 2-5 minutes.

Setup

Now that you've gotten used to multiboxing, lets make some special features that assist in farming Godlands! I am going to just take a stab and figure that you probably dont have a clue on how to work ISBoxer, and I really don't know that much about it either to tell you the truth. I'll make it simple for that reason.

The first feature I would suggest anyone using is the handy keymapping that Lax made after I had some trouble. http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2245 This nifty code will eliminate the right click of death, were if you right clicked in the heat of battle a flash menu would pop up and you'd lose control of your character and probably die a very horrible death. It will also force insert to be sent to all clients regardless of whether or not broadcasting is activated or not. This is useful for when you're in a panic situation during a screen swap to pick up loot. This code will also fix an issue with the flash shortcut (ctrl + w) that forces flash to close if you happen to have the ctrl key bound to something and were moving with the W key at the same time.

The other feature you'll probably want to set up is a round robbin key binding for your healing spell (space key by default on RotMG). There are probably guides out there, but this would be a rough setup of one: In ISBoxer expand the "Key Maps" in the top left cell. You can create a new keymap by right clicking "Key Maps" and adding one or you can just choose a per-existing one. Now that we have a new (or old) keymaps subsection, look on the bottom left cell of ISBoxer and right click "Mapped Keys" and click "New Mapped Key". Name it something like healing or what ever you fancy. After it is created, turn your attention to the middle bottom cell and leave the two selections under Hotkey on the default settings. However, if you want to have your new spell on a key other then spacebar, apply that key into the "Hotkey". For example, I have that section assigned to the mouse4 button (the key on the side of the mouse that goes back on internet browsers) so that I only have to press that when I want to heal my self instead of having to hit the space bar all the time. After you've assigned your key turn your attention to the bottom left cell of ISBoxer and expand "Steps". Highlight "1" and then turn your attention to the middle bottom cell of ISBoxer. Right click "Actions" and hover your mouse over "Keystroke Action" and click on "New Keystroke Action". Highlight the new creation and look on the bottom right cell of ISBoxer. Change the "Target" to "window: All w/ Current" and the "key Combination" input to Space. DON'T FORGET to click "Round-robin within selected Target". You're done! Now it should be as simple as hitting your assigned key to heal once instead of having all 3 chars heal at the same time. I suggest having the space bar still work for all 3 for oh shit moments when you get separated or need a lot of life instantly.

Here are some general tips I learned from farming in Godlands:

- When looking for loot, I usually just scan all my clients with my eyes while paying attention to the surrounding. I can usually pick up the blue color of a potion bag in the corner of my eyes because it's so noticeable on the ground.

- Never dive in for loot, as tempting as it may seem. Try and kill everything around you before you loot or just pass it on if it's too risky. A good mind set to be in is that it's more trouble having to relevel a char then it is to try and get that extra pot.

- Don't be afraid to run out of mana sometimes, just because one of your chars is out of mana doesn't mean the other 2 or more can heal. If all 3 or more characters are out of mana and you're not in a safe spot to regenerate mana, it might be wise to return to the nexus. This saves time because you wont have to re-level 3 or more characters despite wanting to save time by not going to the nexus and trying to tough it out. But be careful and remember that if one character is out of mana, then you'll have to press your healing round robbin button twice to skip over it.

- Don't get frustrated with other people or your self. Most people I see would rather you die a horrible death then support you. Just ignore them. It's also wise to avoid people because they will pull monsters into you or away from you, dont put your neck on the line for them because they probably wouldn't do the same for you. Don't get frustrated with your self when you die or you cant find any loot. With enough time you'll be swimming with pots and not have a care in the world.

- Don't be afraid to use extra mana in hairy situations. I usually have oh shit moments and just hit the space bar instead of my round robbin key so I am instantly full on life. When I run low on mana because of this I usually play a bit more passive until I have enough mana for a heal or two on each char. Too much of an oh shit moment requires the nexus button.

- Never get distracted or leave the keyboard or even window if you're in Godlands. Typing, switching screens, getting up to go to the bathroom will almost always end up in a death and cause frustration. Use the handy insert key (nexus) or the handy /pause command. Make sure that if you type /pause ALL of them go into a pause state. I've had times were only 2 out of the three characters pause resulting in a death. It's usually best just to nexus.

- Stay very far away from most event bosses like the Cube God, Penteract, Skull Shrine, and a few others. They have so much stuff flying in every which way that it really isn't convenient to multibox event bosses. I'd suggest farming pots by farming Godlands and use those pots to fully pot a single char to do event bosses like this. I feel that there would be way too much risk to multibox against them or farm around them with all the summons they create flying around them which can fly around in parts of godlands. They hit like a ton of bricks and are very dangerous. I am not saying it's not possible to multibox against the event bosses, I just feel it's suicide unless you had fully potted chars with good gear. At that point I wouldn't be sure why you'd want to risk all that for a few extra pots from something like the Cube God.

- Avoid most dungeons. They are usually death traps solo, and multiboxing really wouldn't help you that much. I usually find more loot just farming Godlands then what is offered inside most dungeon portal. I figure that you can factor in a death of a character in with the time spent inside a dungeon because most dungeon minions hit like a ton of bricks and move insanely fast out of your blind spots. Lemon (sprite world) is a bitch to do with all the moving pads. You would be wise to avoid multiboxing this dungeon.

God tactic guide

This is for specific God tactics, use at your own risk, find a way that works best with you before going head first into this.

- Usually for the genie, I can take all his hits head on with out moving and just healing through his projectiles. He is quite easy.

- Ghost God, Medusas, and those eyeball looking gods are easy to take on if you back peddle (move backwards to avoid projectiles, something were high priest base speed comes in handy.) and just shoot in the general direction while they chase you. They deal a lot of damage and could one shot you if you are shotgunned. Usually a hit or two is nothing to worry about, just heal up a bit.

- Leviathan, the blue snake type of thing that goes all over the place, is a bit harder to take down. I usually take a few of his hits while healing and just spray bullets and try and lead my attacks on him. Sometimes it's best just to pass him up.

- Sprite God, that purple looking ghost that sits still, is sometimes very dangerous. Be careful of his silence projectiles that he throws out. Being silenced is the bane of healing because you wont have any mana! It's easy to kite his silence if you can heal through his projectiles though. I usually pick a spot and move around slightly because his silence is designed to over correct or follow the character quite a bit. You'll probably get hit more trying to kite his silence and his projectiles at the same time.

- I dont remember what the god is named but it reminds me of the Pokemon named Muk. It's kind of like a pool of ooze that shoots out a spread along with green sticky projectiles that will slow you. This is very dangerous to multiboxing because it will probably hit a few of your characters and make them very slow and split your team up very quick. Usually I can back peddle and range his projectiles and his sticky projectiles but it's more important to avoid the sticky ones because you can just heal through his normal damaging projectiles.

Common problems and solutions:

A good start would be to update flash, update ISBoxer and Innerspace, update windows, update graphic card drivers, as well as reinstalling flash if need be.

Innerspace wont hook into my Realm of the Mad God instance!
A: Follow this guide closer http://isboxer.com/index.php/component/content/article/3-general/106-howto-multibox-flash-games-rotmg If you make a mistake or create the wrong .exe it wont hook. Also, double check Enable hardware acceleration.

I can't keep my characters together!
A: Sometimes it's impossible and even if your speed is the same you'll still have them a little out of place due to server ping. A good way to keep them closer together besides having the same speed is to have a high fps. Around 30 works for me and lowering quality via right click on flash will help out a lot with fps issues. Sometimes your computer just isn't good enough to multibox and there is no fix.

I can't right click to change quality after I used Lax's code to disable right clicking!
A: Use the rest of his guide to map out a key to disable the right click code temporary when you're first setting up your clients http://isboxer.com/wiki/FAQ#I_added_a_new_Key_Map_but_the_Key_Maps_toggle_does_not_disable_it.3F

I never find any pots, you told me I'd be rolling around in them in Godlands!
A: Patience. It's a random drop and you need to apply somewhere around 10-20% damage in order to be eligible for anything to drop. This also means that large multiboxing groups aren't great for Godlands farming. In my experience, 6 characters split the damage on Gods so much that none of them were eligible for loot. Meaning that I never found any potions or soulbound bags. I reduced down to 3 characters and it was much better on my cpu and I started getting drops.

My clients sometime close out, what gives!
A: I found that Lax's code didn't 100% work for me. If your clients are closing out when you're moving and using the ctrl key, I suggest you bind your ctrl key to something else and forget about using it until Lax comes up with a solution to disable flash shortcuts.

When I made a macro to teleport, it never types out the full thing!
A: Add a delay before you last hit enter to send the teleport command. I suggest adding a 300-400ms delay to be safe.

I need to look up more of these commands. ;)

I added a teleport Hotkey for everyone to use in my Key Map for ROTMG thread following this suggestion. It will work from any window as long as you enter your ROTMG character names into ISBoxer. This is REALLY helpful!

Just to follow up, some people have said that you can run 10 people in godlands and still get blue bags. I have no idea if this is true because my computer cannot run 10 with out fps issues. I am not 100% sure if when I was running 6 characters that it wouldn't drop blue bags or not. I just farmed for a while and never saw any. My guess is that the people running 10 characters either can get blue bags, or some of the characters are out of sync and miss the targets. Thus making 4-5 or what have you characters hitting the target and meeting the threshold for blue bag drops.

//speculation time

I remember seeing somewhere (I cannot find it again, might be higher or lower, dont take it as fact) that you needed to apply around 100-110 damage to gods for potions to drop. The average god has around 1000 life, which probably means 8-9 (cutting it close) people would be a good number to run with. Not sure if this is true or not. But if a few chars miss or a few extra hit, other people will be pushed out of the looting table.

//end speculation time

I have also adventured to 4 boxing and I might try 5-6 boxing soon. Maybe after I overclock my cpu. I also farm the dungeon, undead lair (UDL). I wouldn't advise people to do this dungeon if you're new to multiboxing. It's very difficult. However, I've farmed nothing but wis pots so far in UDL, but fingers crossed for a dbow or two to drop! Doom bows are worth a bucket load. I am also going to figure out how to get the autoloot script to work with multiboxing. As far as I can tell, it should work out of the box but I haven't really tried it. Don't worry, the autoloot script is under their useful links category on their wiki. Meaning that it's safe to use. http://forums.wildshadow.com/wiki/realm ... eful-links

First of all I hate you all for getting me hooked on ROTMG =p.

been playing around with it a bit...haven't had any pot drops yet, but decided to go with 7 [arbitrary number, my CPU can handle it ok, high utilization though] but am messing around with 1 pally, 1 warrior, and 5 priests. My [dim] logic is that since I'll be kiting from range, the war/pal won't directly contribute much DPS [though they should kill off anything that gets close to the group] but their abilities will. Accordingly, I made action target groups for Priests, Paladins, and Warriors, and DDs. Keymaps RR space bar to the priests, paladins, and warriors [the later 2 have 'do not advance to next step for 7 and 4.5 seconds, respectively] in case I ever add more paladins / warriors , and then send space to everyone in DDs. [it occurs to me that I could move the later group to another bound key, but meh.] Seems to work reasonably well leveling up to 20..been a bit gunshy about actually attacking gods. [ran into godlands with a bit of a train following, then evac'd out when something did away with all my mana, oops.]

Up time on the +damage + attack/move speed [see Seal and Helm] isn't nearly 100%, but its up a lot. [and pretty thoughtless, healing = buffing, I love it] and seems to help. Might add another paladin so regen is up more often.

Here is an update.

I've currently made:
~700 defense potions (probably around 350-400 pure defense potions) worth of loot, excluding the amulets.
80 dollars on paypal
and close to 5 amulets of resurrection through fame.

I currently run 5 characters, all priests, with just basic gear. I usually use shadow wands, masters robe, para def/hp ring, and a renewing tome. I currently do the events, Pentract, Sphinx, Lost of the Lost Time, and crystal prisoner when ever I am close to them. The only UT (Unteired loot) I've managed to loot was 4 crystal swords and 2 crystal wands. I do the dungeon UDL and Abyss regularly, but haven't had much of anything besides pots drop. I have been tempted to start a paypal shop, but would rather not deal with chargebacks, so I've been trying to find a site to become a re-supplier for. I found a good one, but it's been ddosed recently and I haven't been able to sell to them for a week or so. Because of that, my loot has piled up and I have 250 pure defense potions on my mules right now.

Besides that video, I don't do too much different. I've just gotten much better through practice and I can belt out potions like no other. You can also kill rock constructs with 5 unpotted priests if you focus fire correctly. It's dangerous at first, but it's funny and it can pay out if you kill them. I find it funny because sometimes godtrains of 20+ people cant kill constructs because they lack focus fire, yet unpotted priests can kill them when done right. I dont suggest doing the event bosses until you're really good at multiboxing. I die from time to time from them, as well as gods due to lag and what not. But since my characters are rocking out in cheap toss away gear, I dont really lose anything but the time to relevel them, making profits really high. I've been thinking about doing tome runs with multiboxing but have yet to find a guild willing to invite me that isn't garbage.

This is the only point that I can disagree with.

The only dungeons I would not solo (read:multibox solo) is Abyss and Tomb. I typically go in Abysses if I see other people go in, who I know are skilled. That way, it makes the whole run quicker with quick heals. Otherwise, I avoid them. Same with Tomb.

UDL is very easy, as long as you know the boss fight. When he gets to the stage where he has the flying brown bugs that quiet, depending on my MP situation, I move all but one box to a safer place, away from quiet, and go at it with one dude till his next phase starts.

Sprite World can be very scary, but as long as you DON'T STOP MOVING, it's fine. During the boss fight, the very first phase is the scarier one. Just try to do circles away from him, going one direction. Don't go clockwise, then switch it up to counter clockwise. Not a wise idea. The phase after that, stay as far away as you can on the biggest platform you can, but close enough that you're inside the square turret shots. Weave back and forth between his shots, there is a pattern to learn.

This is just from my personal experience doing these dungeons on my main, then using that experience to multibox with. I'm not sure about your main, if there is one, but yeah.
