Assist (Alt-T) and other problems

Hello,

First time posting on forums. Just some background, I used ISBoxer a year ago to two box on my TOR accounts and then stopped playing for a year. I tried to get going a few days ago but found out that the assist command that worked before doesn't work now. I then tried a new command (all windows w/o current) where I used the home key as the hotkey and just had all others activiate F2. That did not work even though my follow macro did work which was simply F2 all windows w/o current and then the follow command for all other windows but current window. Also when I tried to limit the press of the space bar to only the current windo it still activated in the other window.

I read the other forum post regarding assist but the fix did not work for me.

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Re: Assist (Alt-T) and other problems

Is this your profile from a year ago? Alt+T does nothing because there's no Assist -- or anything remotely related to it -- in your profile.

You should start fresh. Back up this profile (File, Save As, and save it as something else), then Clear your config (File, Clear, let it clear EVERYTHING out) and run the Quick Setup Wizard. The Quick Setup Wizard will help you set up working Follow and Assist (again, neither of these are in your current profile).

On the final page of the wizard, which has changed since you made this profile, there is a Game Key Bindings tab that you need to configure to get working follow and assist. It has boxes for you to fill in the Game Key Bindings for the Assist Target and Follow Target hotkeys, make sure you fill those in. You also need to fill in the targeting table, which asks which key each guy needs to press in order to target the others; you cannot generally use the Auto-fill button for SWTOR but that may only apply to groups of size 3 or larger. You might be able to use the auto-fill button for your groups of 2, since the keys should be F1 to target self and F2 to target the other, and auto-fill will get those right for a group of 2.

Assuming you correctly fill in that page, then you will come out of the wizard with working assist and follow.

Space is not mapped in your configuration, so if that's broadcasting you probably have Broadcasting Mode enabled...

Re: Assist (Alt-T) and other problems

Not entirely true that there isn't anything remotely related to an assist function.

The best way I've devised is to:
1. set my active window as the focused target
2. bind my acquire focus target's target action, and call it at the end of every dps rotation step
3. bind a compatible focus target modifier, and use that for forcing melee to constantly refollow the melee character I am controlling to keep them in combat range.

Dear, GOD, where were you a year ago when I was setting up? Thanks, man!

Edit: Wait, how do you do this? It will not let me follow my focus target. For instance my focus target modifier is the "End" key, and the follow target is the "Insert" key. Pressing End and Insert in a single instance (not in ISBoxer) does nothing except tell me that I have no target to follow. It works for other actions like buff and so forth.

Re: Assist (Alt-T) and other problems

Yeah not sure why, but that method did stop working for me, so it might have just been a wierd bug or delay in actual targeting. However, I've actually made some major progress the last couple days in regard to eliminating the need for a double tap, as well as including an automatic melee autofollow. But I want to refine it some more. Though the secret was in the order of the keystrokes in the spam.

My current assist me key resembles:
Assist Mapped Key:
Step1:
send keystroke shift+alt+t > all other DPS
send keystroke shift+alt+f > all other melee
send variable keystroke target slot {slot} > all other DPS

2. Configure the 'Assist Target' Variable Keystroke. (In the top left pane, select Variable Keystrokes, then find it in the bottom left)

3. Configure each of the "Target Slot #" Variable Keystrokes, for each Slot in your Character Set. (In the top left pane, select your Character set. Then in the bottom left pane, click each Slot number. shift+alt+5 shift+alt+1 shift+alt+2 shift+alt+3
shift+alt+1 shift+alt+5 shift+alt+2 shift+alt+3
shift+alt+1 shift+alt+2 shift+alt+5 shift+alt+3
shift+alt+1 shift+alt+2 shift+alt+3 shift+alt+5

In Game mapped Keys are:
shift+alt+1 = Target Party Slot 1
shift+alt+2 = Target Party Slot 2
shift+alt+3 = Target Party Slot 3
shift+alt+5 = Target Party Slot 5
shift+alt+f = Follow Target
shift+alt+t = acquire target's target

I also ensure that the characters in my team are created in the order of their loading, to attempt tor ensure a consistent party load order.
