Duplicating VFX Setups Across Multiple Teams

So now that I finally have a PC I can run my 5man teams on, I spent about two hours last night setting up VFX as well! I love it!

I have a minimap viewer from my herbers/miners and 4 more to show the rest of the team. But now I changed teams, how do I get the same setup on the new team? I run my primary account and the settings arent in the VFX Control Panel.

Also, I need some help with duplicating the Viewer windows across all my toons so when I switch I can see the rest of the team like when Im running on my main.

Thankless!

Re: Duplicating VFX Setups Across Multiple Teams

There are several around if you look. That one is still accurate, if a little short.

Advanced Video FX: No Holes - viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3695
VideoFX Series:
Basic VideoFX - https://youtu.be/ccNLsNrnM4A
Not So Basic - http://youtu.be/73ATj87XXd4
VFX Actions - http://youtu.be/PYu54gmkgWA
Other Window Source - http://youtu.be/0-RteUf516o
VFX Layouts - http://youtu.be/Hntr1IE1Xgc

Video FX (Wiki) - http://isboxer.com/wiki/Video_FX
Blurry/Pixelated VFX - http://isboxer.com/wiki/FAQ#Why_does_...

And finally, if you happened to create videoFX via the in game ISBoxer GUI (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+G), you can use the very same to copy VideoFX settings to other teams. Use the Import Tab, and select the feature, and Character set/Character to import from. You will need to do this for each team member, so try and match them up slot to slot.

Re: Duplicating VFX Setups Across Multiple Teams

That video series is what got me started actually but it doesnt really explain how to duplicate the efforts over multiple accounts, for the newbies anyways. :)

New question, so I have the screens all set and a hotkey assigned. Is there a command I can use to create another Mapped Key to disable the windows? For example, my other toons viewers are all across the bottom of the screen, but that blocks anything that shows up in the bottom right hand corrner so if I could turn them off and on that would be great.

Also, how do you guys keep track of what window your in when you switch back and forth? Only thing I came up with is changing the color of the chat window... /shrug

Thanks!

Re: Duplicating VFX Setups Across Multiple Teams

If you setup your videofx via the ISBoxer in-game gui, (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+G), then you can use the Import tab to import VideoFX settings between character sets/characters.

If you setup videofx via actions in your profile, then duplicating is easy, you just call your setup for the new character set (although if you've assigned targets to specific characters, excluding DXNothing, this usually wont work, normally it is better to assign to slots, although this becomes problematic too).
The issue comes about if you have something configured that does not apply to that character set because the class of the character in a specific slot dones't have something you have videofx'd. In these cases, you should be applying videofx to Action Target Groups instead of slots, and maybe with an advanced target to get the ordering. I use both of these for dealing with healers that are not always in the same slot and making sure certain classes have abilities display on the main's screen, and if a team does not have that class, then they don't display. This can add a little bit of work to figure out the details, but it turns out pretty good in the end.

I also virtualise the setup so a 3 man team runs a different layout to a 5 or 6 man team, because the locations are different. This is a PITA, because it means setting up certain parts more than once, but it turns out not a lot moves around because when running a stacked layout you fix the size. I just have a bit more black space on my dxnothing when running smaller teams so my main view does not change, and I don't have to figure out 30 different positions for videofx windows.

For showing/hiding videofx, I use a two stepped mapped key which runs a videofx action to show/hide the videofx windows. I've separated the creating videofx to a mapped key which runs when my character set is loaded/reloaded (there is an option for this on your Character Set). Destroying videofx doesn't happen very often for me, but I do use it when switching windows for dragging certain party frame elements around because I can't pull them from the source and the viewer on the same window, so I need to grab them from a different characters frame. I make use of an advanced target with select (#) to figure that out for me.

For keeping track, something like large character names for each window. A menu works too, but for some reason people find clickbars easier to get their heads around. MiRai uses a menu with fancy rendered button images in his videos. I use boring text, so it ends up looking a bit flat, although recently I found some fancy images, but I use these as a right click popup selector...

Re: Duplicating VFX Setups Across Multiple Teams

Bob, you awesome! :)

I LOVE the character Name Click Bar idea, already implemented! And I didnt see the "destroy" option in the VFX Action area, already implemented as well!

THANK YOU!

Now that Action Target Group concept is a little above me still, but I am getting there. I can see when I start running mixed classes and go to use Miraji ClickBar Healing concept, driving from the tank. Ill get there... :)

Awesome!! I LOVE getting this stuff working. Thank you again!
