mixing melee and ranged
I would have posted this on dual-boxing but I can't post there. I signed up and activated but still can't post or reply, that was 3 weeks ago. Webmaster email bounces back and no other response.
On to the questions:
Setup is 3 characters: The theme is a good guys pet group.
warrior - paladin with leftover points in beast master
cleric - sentinel with leftover points in druid
rogue - ranger with leftover points going to bard and ????
For easier fighting buttons 1 to = are sent to all 3 windows with macros on those buttons.
I have been playing around with macros to make my life easier. Warrior and rogue macros were easy - start with a cooldown skill and finish with an instant skill.
For the cleric as there is a mix of ranged and melee because of the druid so I created macros like this:
melee cooldown ability
melee instant ability
ranged cooldown ability
ranged instant ability
That way they can fight at range or melee with ease. This worked so well I am thinking of picking up some bladedancer to give the rogue some melee skills which can be added in to the macros. Currently if mobs get to close to them all they can do is melee autoattack.
What is the verdict on mixing melee and ranged in a dps class, is it gimping the character by spreading too thin?
