White Screen

I set up isboxer using the video after many times failing with a white screen. When i Start up Rift i get the Start up screen just fine but when it get to the loading screen it goes white and all i get is sound. I sometimes get the mouse icon on and off. Even if i have it on lowest settings, and load only one game up? i have a 260 GTX with 4gig of ram. I can run rift just fine with mid settings. when i start isboxer it says my cpu is oly runnig at 1/2 its speed? any suggestions? I have been running Keyclone so i am new to ISBoxer.

Re: White Screen

As far as your "white screen" issue, I'd start by checking for new video drivers. There's not much else I can suggest as far as that goes

when i start isboxer it says my cpu is oly runnig at 1/2 its speed?

There's a link in that window, click the link for more information about that. The link goes here: http://isboxer.com/index.php/features/79-guide-howto-disable-cpu-throttling. CPU Throttling is a power saving feature built into laptops and even many desktops now.

CPU Throttling while multiboxing is going to reduce performance and can throw off FPS limiters like the one in ISBoxer: When the FPS Limiter kicks in, it's going to reduce the strain on the CPU. When the strain on the CPU is lowered, CPU Throttling kicks in and drops the power to the CPU. Then the FPS limiter detects the drop in FPS (due to lower power), and lets up a bit, increasing the strain on the CPU. Then the CPU Throttling detects the additional strain and provides additional power. This is going to raise the FPS back up, and the FPS Limiter kicks in again, reducing the strain on the CPU. When the strain on the CPU is lowered, . . . . . . see above.

Disabling CPU Throttling will keep high performance and not confuse any FPS limiters. This is extremely helpful for multiboxing, since you are purposefully working your PC harder than normal.

Re: White Screen

I'm having the same probem as OP. Disabled the throttling ability in the BIOS and still got the message. Downloaded a 3rd party app to keep the CPU from throttling at all and the message goes away. Drivers are latest and I'm still getting the white screen. Before the latest patch that added Rift support, I was able to log all the way into the game, then the screen would just be completely black although I could get sound and hear myself moving around. Using a 460GTX on WinXP 64 bit and 8GB of RAM. Thinking of going back to an older driver to test out.

You shouldnt need to download an app to disable CPU throttling, it is easily disabled through Windows. There's a help link right in the window that takes you to the guide: http://isboxer.com/index.php/guides/79-guide-howto-disable-cpu-throttling

The White Screen issue has so far been limited to Windows XP. Switching to Windows Vista or Windows 7 should immediately cure the issue. Otherwise, I will be looking into this and a couple other Windows XP issues in other games shortly.

Re: White Screen

Dual-boot to Vista fixed the problem.

Re: White Screen

This issue is solved in Inner Space build 5392 or later (build 5393 is currently live). Restart Inner Space, let it patch up, and you should be good to go. There's also a new ISBoxer 38 minor update that was pushed today that solves some windowing related issues
