sidewinderx4 native?

Hey All,

I was wondering, should the sidewinderx4 show up as native? If so then I'm doing something wrong as none of the S1 - S6 buttons show up nor does the device in input types. If I run the Lavish.ButtonTester.exe it seems to show me the buttons but the buttontest.iss doesn't respond the them. Am I being a numpty here or does this keyboard not work?

Thanks,
Sam.

Re: sidewinderx4 native?

If they don't show when you use buttontest.iss, and they do show things in Lavish.ButtonTester.exe, you should probably paste me the output from it so I can add it if necessary! You might have one with a different device ID than the one that I originally added.

They would show up with buttontest.iss and in ISBoxer Toolkit as SWX4-S1 through SWX4-S6

Re: sidewinderx4 native?

Perfect, thanks.

Your version of the SideWinder indeed has a different device ID than the US version, and I have now added it to Inner Space as of build 5846! To try it out, right click Inner Space in the system tray (notification area) and select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches" then close and restart Inner Space :)

Re: sidewinderx4 native?

Hi lax or anyone else. Now I can see the keys in the initial key mapping window - I can select the S1-S6 keys via the "hotkey picker" arrow but it doesn't add any steps or actions. So if I go in and manually try to add an action, the actual key doesn't show up in that "hotkey picker" window. So while I can add the key, I can't assign it the proper actions to make it work. What am I missing here?

What you're missing is that if you send S1 to window 2, the game has no clue what to do with it. This is why they do not show up when you're picking a key to send, and you have to send normal keyboard or mouse buttons instead.

You can use the Mapped Key Wizard to do the initial setup for your S1-S6 keys. Pick "Key Re-Map" for example and then you can give it the Hotkey (e.g. S1) and what to send to whichever other windows (e.g. Q to window 2)

Re: sidewinderx4 native?

Ok, I'm clearly doing something wrong as this just isn't working. Any help would be appreciated, this is what I'm doing:

Run mapped key wizard
select key map to map too
select key remap
select hotkey to re-map
map the SWX4-S1 key
select key combination to send
select num7
select Window:All w/ Current
send all to inner space

Nothing happens when I hit the NUM 7 key but the other NUM keys work as I have them bound to switching windows. What am I missing?

Re: sidewinderx4 native?

What is Num 7 configured to do in the game? If nothing happens when you hit num 7, why are you binding SWX4-S1 to send it exactly?
