Following in space

I though that I would have figured this out by now, but I may be missing something. Please help if there is anyone left on this game.

I followed the tutorial and am able to get my 4 alt accounts to follow my main character and assist. However, I am having difficulty with getting my alts to actually move when my main does. When I press my follow key my 4 followers will turn to the lead character, but when I start to move forward my followers stay put. I was able to set my followers up so they are all set for max impulse. This way they will move to the main and stop once they catch up. This sometimes has a negative effect. The followers will circle around the leader continuously. Am I doing something wrong with the way I control them? I've been at it for days now and am starting to think there is no way to efficiently follow...

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Following in space

I don't think auto-follow works in space?

You may just need to use Broadcasting Mode during that time

Re: Following in space

In order to get them to follow you in space you need to increase their throttle, or use a match speed key binding.

Re: Following in space

I found that by using a click bar, you can control your whole groups throttle, and throttle speed while making them follow you at the same time.

This is what my Throttle Control click bar looks like.

Image

With this click bar I can control each one of my slave toons throttle and throttle speed individually while having them follow me. I can control just all my slave toons throttle and throttle speed while keeping their throttle speed synced and following me. And I can control the whole group, including my mains throttle and throttle speed and keep them all in sync. I can make any slave stop and use full impulse individually. I can make the whole group stop or go to full impulse and follow me.

Shigs is right, you need to throttle up any of your slave ships to make them move to you or with you after they have been given the follow command. I am not aware that a match speed command even exists in game. I looked everywhere in the extensive command list that STO has, and never found a match speed command. If there is such a command, would someone please list it here. that command would be very helpful.

Some multiboxers have been asking me for the png files I used for this Throttle Control. So here are links to download them below.

Re: Following in space

i use a char name follow bind

example::

/bind f "TARGET name$$follow"

"name" is the name of the toon you want to follow.

bind each f key based on the slot you are playing on so f1 everyone follows your f1 slot etc etc.

if you still have a problem it might be due to mouse clicks.

also the only way to match speed in the game is using follow.

Re: Following in space

an update to following in space. after playing around i have found out why the follow breaks in space and here are the reasons why

clicking on full impulse button above the yellow speed bar. using your mouse to click on messages that appear when doing missions etc.

to combat this you need to set your interact key to broadcast also it would be good practice to set the up and down arrows to broadcast so you can choose options.

using the above command to target a character and follow them is still recommended (haven't tested it with straight /follow)
