Macros not working on private servers.

So after being severely dissapointed by Blizzard's terrible service with Classic offering hour long queues and unstable servers, i decided to stop my subs and go back to private servers, they are currently preparing to release tbc so i was excited to multibox. But i had to find out the hard way that there is no macros working like they did for classic, after reading a bit on forum i read that you had to pick others instead of World of Warcraft in the setup wizard, the problem is that they clearly won't tell you how to get it work, in fact i would go as far to say that they do what they can to prevent you from using it on a private server.

The client is the same with the same version, so no Blizzard does not offer a better or different client, infact private servers has modified clients with rain sounds and what not.

And then there's the shady part stating that they does not support private servers or allow discussions for it, you might as well try to sell subscriptions for Blizzard at this point.

Re: Macros not working on private servers.

I don't know what this post is meant to be, other than a post to simply complain about several different topics (with no questions), so I moved it out of the Pro Configuration section and put it in General. I'm unsure how you landed on the Pro Configuration section of the forum for this particular post, but based on its content, it seems like you're just spewing things out and it happened to end up there.

It's unfortunate that you experienced "terrible service" and "unstable servers" during the (re-)release of Classic, but I'll continue by saying that there are many satisfied multiboxers currently playing Classic, many whom are even using ISBoxer, and many who do not share your opinion. In addition, I'll just mention that we do not allow the advertisement or promotion of private servers (but you knew this already).

Who is "they?" Lavish Software? If so, this is an incredibly odd statement to make since ISBoxer is compatible with many different games, all of which, other than WoW, cannot utilize the ISBoxer add-on or the macros created by ISBoxer, for WoW. So, with that information, one might choose to seek out the general instructions to set up a different game other than WoW when it's suggested to select "Other" in the Wizard.

Another unsubstantiated claim. There is nothing preventing anyone from using ISBoxer on a private server, other than the rules of said private server that bar the multiboxing playstyle.

Not only is this statement inaccurate, but just the simple fact that the 15-year-old game client is 32-bit and the new game client is 64-bit, means it's very safe to assume that there's a good bit of difference, under the hood. The new game client also uses the new interface options, video options, and macro API (which ISBoxer requires), but if you want custom rain sounds, then... cool.

Why is it "shady" that "they" (Lavish Software, I'll assume) don't allow for the promotion or advertisement of private servers? Is this the correct word you wanted to use to express your discontent?

Regardless, if you have further complaints that aren't related to feedback or contain questions, I would suggest opening a blog, unless you have an actual issue you'd like to address, in reference to ISBoxer, rather than a string of random thoughts. However, based on your one other previous post on this forum, I don't expect a reply.

Re: Macros not working on private servers.

That still doesn't change the fact that macros ain't working for private servers, it has nothing to do with the client itself but Isboxer.

Everything else work, i did my part to bind them under "Variable Keystrokes" it is still not working.

Re: Macros not working on private servers.

You are correct. The ISBoxer Addon for Wow is not actively developed to ensure it works on non retail WoW servers. It has never been claimed that it does, and it has never been stated it will be developed so that it does. There are also features present in the non retail WoW clients that prevent certain features to not work in the way the ISBoxer Addon currently functions, like the /follow implementation is different in 1.12 vs later versions.

Could you create your own macros, and configure those to work with ISBoxer. Sure you can. Would it be the ISBoxer Addon. No it would not. Would you need to setup for "Other", no, but you do need to ensure the default options for the quick setup are not using the built in default of "Wow Macro" option as this implies the ISBoxer Addon, and as we've established, that wont work, so you need to use a different Follow/Assist method. One of the inbuilt ones could work, or you need to roll your own. Either way, it will require a little more work on your part.

For the 1.12, if using the Variable Keystrokes, for the "Target Slot, Follow/Assist Target" method, then you will need to ensure the select Target table is configured, so each toon knows what they need to press to select each slot. This is usually the F1 to F5 keys which in game would be bound to the equivalent Select Party Member.

You can check what these are assigned to in ISBoxer, by checking out each slot on a character set.

You may also want to verify which Follow/Assist method is in use by checking the Virtual Mapped Key settings on the character set.

So you can then look to see what it is actually doing.

Note that this Variable Keystroke is using the overrides per slot in the first image.
