Unable to install Inner Space

Hi there, I just bought a new rig, got everything up and running. WoW installed and it's going and I've logged in. This is the second time I've done this and the first time nothing went wrong at all, everything installed fine on windows 10 and everything is the same on this rig as far as the OS and whatnot. All the updates are done that can be done to bring everything in line with my rig I've replaced.

When I go to install the Inner Space plugin I get an error that says...

"DirectX Update Required"

Inner Space requires an update to directx that is not present on your system. Click OK to be taken to the DXWEBSETUP download on Microsoft.com which will detect and download only the missing parts: or, click Cancel if you would rather find it on your own. (Linus users need to copy d3dx9_37.dll into their Wine system32 folder)

If I run the update if fails and tells me to check the directx logs.

Please give me some ideas as to where I went wrong. Brand new rig with a 9900k and a 2080ti and this is absolutely disheartening so far.

Also if I go into the windows 32 folder and run the directx fixit tool it says I have the most up to date version of directx 12

As the message says, it needs some DirectX components that are not present on your system. As in, they don't come installed in a default install of DirectX.

This is the direct link to what it is trying to run. I suggest downloading to your computer, and running locally rather than via a webinstall (i.e where you hit RUN, before Save)

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... aspx?id=35

if you Run the ISBoxer installer from the web it gets sandboxed and may not have permissions to then run this update correctly.

If you don't follow my previous suggestion, then the second one is to download the ISBoxer installer to your computer, take it out of any protected folder, right click on it, select Run As Administrator (it should be asking for admin permissions anyway, but you can be explicit).

I've downloaded and run it locally, I did as well last time but I wanted to triple check so I uninstalled and downloaded from the link you gave. Still the same error.

"Internal system error" Please check the dxerror.log for info and that's the info I linked above to you in the post.

After uninstalling and reinstalling everything fresh and trying again this is the error message I get when ran as administrator from my local drive from the link you provided me. I don't know what else to do at this point.

Well, the log says Access is Denied.

Failed API: InstallAssembly()
Error: (0x80070005) - Access is denied.

Which implies a lack of permissions. I don't have an answer on why this wont install for you. It has come up once before IIRC, but I cannot remember what that person did to resolve.

Worst case, reinstall Windows.

fresh install of windows and ran everything as before and it worked perfectly this time, got all my saves transferred over. I'm good to go. sometimes you're right and a fresh install is the way to go. that's the direction I was headed anyways. thanks again for the help :D
