Window swapping moves cursor to edge

Hello, ISBoxer community.
Long time lurker, first time poster, since I've always managed to find solutions here to my self-induced ISBoxer issues, up until this point.

My issue is my cursor moving to the edge of the window when I swap between windows. The desired behavior is to maintain it's position when a window is swapped, which is how it seems to operate for everyone else (judging from some YouTube videos). Would some kind soul please tell me how I messed this up?

I have found one hint at the origin of the issue. Disabling one setting, Lock Cursor for Diablo 3, fixes this above issue, but creates a bigger one, as my cursor is no longer bound to the window.

Configuration: https://pastebin.com/fqKmb5Q3
Video example of many window swaps: https://youtu.be/RhghqZgC3v0

As shown in the video, the cursor moves to the left upon window swap. This is towards the window that was just swapped away from, which is now off screen on another monitor. I'm assuming the cursor gets locked into the newly swapped window before it has a chance to fully follow its previous window all the way. So, is there a way to keep Lock Cursor enabled without my cursor moving due to the window swap?

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

There isn't really anything in your config that would cause such a thing. The cursor moving is either a result of how the game handles receiving focus, or potentially some other software on your computer.

There is a Lock Cursor option on the character set, but I see from you profile it is set to "if the game requests it", so it should be behaving as needed dependant on the game setting. You could try setting that to Yes.

Oh. Also probably worth making sure your games are not in fullscreen mode. That would make a difference.

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

Thanks for pointing out the lock cursor setting inside ISBoxer; it's something that I definitely missed. However, after experimenting with it, none of the combinations behave in the desired manner. I tried all six combinations of "Lock cursor inside game window while focused" (no/if the game requests it/yes) and Diablo 3's "Lock Cursor" (checked/unchecked).

And just to address the other concern, the game is set to windowed fullscreen.

I managed to recreate the cursor jumping behavior with another game, World of Warcraft, which I don't normally multibox, once I found the "Lock Cursor to Window" setting. I've played Diablo 3 with this behavior for a while; it's only recently that I've put any thought into it. But I suppose now that I've noticed it and are more consciously aware of it, it's finally bugging me. If it was just WoW, I'm sure I could play without locking my cursor. But with Diablo 3, I feel that not locking my cursor would be dangerous.

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

So, seeing as we have a large number of WoW players who would also find that annoying if it did something like that, and NONE have reported such a thing, then I think it is related to something else you are running on your computer.

Could be mouse specific software, or some other control type application.

Get a compatibility diagnostic http://isboxer.com/wiki/Diagnostics Feel free to use a game running under InnerSpace if you have it up and running already.

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

I haven't installed any mouse-specific software, as I'm just using a 3 button, USB, Microsoft mouse. However, who knows what Win10 has done with it, and I do have some Razer software, but no Razer mice. I did try running Diablo 3 without NVIDIA's Share enabled, since that has an overlay, but that didn't change the behavior.

I'm definitely willing to test things in effort to solve both WoW & D3 problems. And, I'd love to figure out if/which software is causing the issue.
As possible data overkill, here are four compatibility diagnostics:
Inner Space launched D3: https://pastebin.com/arJy79Hs
Non Inner Space launched D3: https://pastebin.com/092Ang2x
Inner Space launched WoW: https://pastebin.com/XYihtbt2
Non Inner Space launched WoW: https://pastebin.com/hUw28TGy

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

Remove the DPI compatibility flag from D3.

Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo III\x64\Diablo III64.exe: HIGHDPIAWARE

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

Regarding Method 1 from the instructions video, I didn't have any compatibility settings enabled.

Regarding Method 2, I just deleted that registry entry. However, it didn't effect the unwanted cursor jumping effect from window swapping.

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

only other thing I could think of is you have some mouse setting which might be a little different. Like the Snap to Active button or something.

On the other hand. We didn't really explore your other software yet, but there was nothing particularly of note; however to rule it out, it is best to shut down anything non essential to the multiboxing, and see if the same issue persists.

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

To me what this looks like is simply that the cursor is locked to the window as it is moving. The cursor has to move with it to your other monitor. When the active window changes, it is snapped back to the main monitor's edge.

All you need to do to solve the problem is use a Video FX Layout to replace your Window Layout. Your second monitor should show 4 Video FX on a DxNothing, while your main screen actually has all 4 game windows on it in the same position. This way, when you switch windows, the mouse does not need to move at all.

Use the Window Layout Wizard to set up a new layout, and set "Use Video FX" to "True"

Re: Window swapping moves cursor to edge

bob, I dug through the standard Windows 10 mouse settings, but didn't find anything. Also, I rebooted & closed/ended/stopped as many applications/processes/services as I could think of, but that didn't change it either.
Configuration from that: https://pastebin.com/QmUg9iEL

lax, I agree with the issue being with cursor being locked. The cursor doesn't jump when I unlock it. Also, the cursor still jumps with it locked even when I make a window layout on a single monitor.
Video (30 seconds long) showing cursor lock versus unlocked on single monitor: https://youtu.be/t5wAvlzfavo

The Video FX Layouts solution sounds neat. I'll need to go learn Video FX Layouts for this, and it's about time I do that anyway. If my main screen has all 4 game windows in the same position, how will that behave? Will it essentially function or look the same as it did before?
