this software doesn't work

inner space doesn't even run - all the help stuff says launch inner space but when I launch it, it is not there
there is nothing to see, nothing to right click on
when I got into the Task Manager it is listed but
I can't right click on it because it is not there

I have deleted and reinstalled twice

I get the following error
"Inner Space Game Configuration was unable to be loaded from the selected Inner Space folder (c:\Program files (x86)\InnerSpace\GameConfiguration.XML). YOu will not be able to select a Game or Game Profile for a Character until ISBoxer Toolkit can read them from your Inner Space configuration. Please make sure that Inner Space has your Game configured (you may need to select 'Add Game' from the Inner SPace menu), the restart ISBoxer."

so the following problem exist with this message - there IS NO Inner Space menu because there is no Inner Space - and - that folder (c:\Program files (x86)\InnerSpace\GameConfiguration.XML) does not exist

I am at a loss - guidance please
I am running Windows 10 ....

thank you

Re: this software doesn't work

OK - digging deeper ..
I have a few "dumb" questions ..
Do I need Microsoft .NET Framework running Windows 10?
Lost of posts about 64bit OS and game.
I am running 64 bit OS and 64 bit game ..
Also, my OS is running Directx 12. Last post I can find on the wiki says it is not supported.
Can I force the computer to run Directx 11? could that be the reason Inner Space is not launching?

thanks again for any help ..

Usually a result of some other software conflicting, like an anti-virus that has wrongly flagged Inner Space. It may not work, but, if you can, go into ISBoxer and run a compatibility diagnostic on Inner Space.

saxyrobert wrote:Do I need Microsoft .NET Framework running Windows 10?

ISBoxer requires Microsoft .NET 3.5, which should already come installed on Windows 10.

Windows 10 uses DX12 and everything below—this is out of your control and not the reason why Inner Space is not currently working on your computer.

Re: this software doesn't work

There are two copies of Inner Space Running according to the compatibility diagnostic tool.

But when I try to run the quick setup wizard, it tells me "Inner Space game configuration could not be loaded from C:\Program Files\(x86)\InnerSpace\Game Configuration.XML (the file does not exist); Inner Space does not appear to have been launched. Please run Inner Space!"

Here are the diagnostic test reports for each of the two processes.

Here is the first one ..

Re: this software doesn't work

Seeing as you say you have two instances of InnerSpace running, then something is preventing it from starting correctly as it detects if it is already running, and should not allow a second copy to run. You should shut them both down before trying again.
It is also failing to detect the Inner Space build number, which is a little weird. Presumably this is not because it is an illegitimate copy, sso something is preventing Inner Space from starting up correctly (this seems a bit repetitive).

My guess at this point would be for you to uninstall AVG (for testing purposes), and possibly the ASUS Sonic Radar overlay thing, and maybe the UPSSecurity thing. There are also a few other things that I think are possible candidates, but those would be the starting points.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The below is from a post I wrote earlier, but then figured we'd see what you can back with in the diagnostics. I can see already some of them are incorrect..

saxyrobert wrote:Inner Space Game Configuration was unable to be loaded from the selected Inner Space folder (c:\Program files (x86)\InnerSpace\GameConfiguration.XML
This particular message is most commonly experienced by people launching ISBoxer Toolkit /Suite, who do not have an active subscription for Inner Space, or an active trial (filling out the form does not guarantee a trial would be active - only the email indicating it has been activated will tell you that).

Inner Space will fail to generate the file in question,
  1. if you do not have an active trial/subscription, that you have logged into Inner Space with, or
  2. if something else is preventing it from running (which we tend to track on this page as the results are the same) or
  3. antivirus/antispyware type things that are generating a false positive, or
  4. you not letting it elevate UAC when it asks.
  5. maybe something else I haven't thought of, but a compatibility diagnostic may identify as MiRai suggested (although ISBoxer will probably complain about the missing file initially you should be able to get to the help menu)

Re: this software doesn't work

That's not even the current version of Inner Space that isn't operating for you, that's the installer which has worked for everyone for years. :)

I'm with bob on this one, you've got something installed that is breaking it. There's .... a lot of extraneous software you're running that you could definitely be shutting down to rule out.

But I would also recommend installing the most recent version of Inner Space from the Archive, right over your current Inner Space files, as this could potentially bypass whatever issue you're having with the installer. (It has helped people before.)

1. Go here https://www.lavishsoft.com/innerspace/archives; Please note the instructions on the page suggest you disable "Always Patch" in Inner Space -- I am not suggesting you do that for your case, so don't think you need to somehow find this option.
2. Download Build 6132
3. Make sure InnerSpace.exe is not currently running (otherwise step 4 will fail). You can do this with Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Escape), on the Details tab. You may need to "Show processes from all users" to see it in the list, as it is running as Administrator (this is desired and correct) in your Diagnostics.
4. Extract files over existing Inner Space files in C:\Program Files (x86)\InnerSpace.
5. Try launching Inner Space again.

Re: this software doesn't work

ok - movement forward!

I am living in Beijing so wondering if I have network/communications issues.
Back when I was first having problems I uninstalled everything and deleted the folder.
I went into the program manager last night and shut down a lot of processes. I also quit everything taking bandwidth.
I opened the Inner Space folder and launched directly from that folder and, took to tries, but it finally connected and I watched it patch and fill that folder with files!

I now have the icon in the notifications area for the first time.

This morning I manually patched (overwrote) with the latest build.
When I launched it, it patched to 3174.

I used this software a few years back and I remember then having a devil of time getting it up and running and tweaked but I know it is awesome to use once all is in place.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate all your help and guidance!
