Cant start Inner Space [DirectX error]

I tried installing inner space on windows 11, but I get the following error:

Directx update required
Inner space requires optional components to directx that do not come pre-installed with windows.

It then tells me to download and install directx, which I try to do but the wizard tell me it finished successfully and I am already running the newest version and do not need an update?

So this is where I am stuck at, hope someone can help me out here.

Yes, the install requires the Direct X extension components which are not included in a standard install of Direct X. As noted in the comment, THESE COMPONENTS ARE NOT INSTALLED WITH YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. Which means regardless of whether you have the latest version of DirectX installed, the extension components are not installed by default and must be installed if they are to be used.

So, that said. I'm not 100% on what the issue actually is. You say they are subsequently installed. Ok. Carry on.

So the issue is that the directx installations completes and states:

Directx setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of directx has been installed already. no installation is neccessary.

I can only click finish after that, but basically the installation didnt change anything and the error from inner space persists.

Sometimes the websetup is weird. Usually when Microsoft redirect it somewhere else.
