Multiboxing Terraria

With the current development build of Inner Space (5540) it is possible to multibox Terraria on one PC. You do not need to purchase more than one copy of Terraria to launch multiple instances, and Terraria does not normally stop you from doing so, but now you can use ISBoxer to manage them. :)

Here's me with 2 characters in a world!

There's some minor caveats.

1. Because this game must be launched through Steam, the typical process for launching a Terraria team is different than the process for launching a game that does NOT work through Steam.

To set it up, first add Steam itself (Steam.exe) to Inner Space via the "Add Game" option from the Inner Space menu, and launch Steam through Inner Space. This will cause anything launched by Steam to be handled by Inner Space and therefore usable by ISBoxer. You do not need to add Terraria itself to Inner Space, and you will not launch Terraria through Inner Space with this method.

Next, when configuring your Character Set with the Quick Setup Wizard (or manually if you prefer..) select Steam for the Game, and Steam Default Profile for the Game Profile. Otherwise, setting up your Characters is no different than for any other game. (Just the launching part)

In order to Launch your Terraria team, you will need to launch Steam through Inner Space, then launch Terraria through Steam. Launch one instance of Terraria for each Slot in your Character Set (however many characters you will play at the same time). Each instance you launch manually through Inner Space should show an FPS indicator and a memory indicator in the upper left corner, and the title bar of the window should say "is1 (ctrl+alt+1)" and so on instead of the usual Terraria window title. If the game is in Full Screen mode, switch it to Windowed mode or you will not be able to continue launching more. After you have them all launched, now it is time to activate your Character Set by any of the usual methods, and ISBoxer will assimilate your Terraria windows. Typically you can do this via Right click IS -> ISBoxer Character Sets -> <your Character Set name>.

2. Terraria renders its own cursor instead of having Windows render it. Unfortunately this means it hides beneath the ISBoxer Control Panel and other in-game ISBoxer widgets. There will be a build of ISBoxer available soon that will work around this while you have the ISBoxer Control Panel un-hidden (with Ctrl+Shift+Alt+G), but the game's cursor will still hide underneath any Click Bars, etc while the ISBoxer Control Panel is hidden.

3. "Make game believe it is foreground window" should be enabled in your Character Set for broadcasting to work correctly for this game.

If anyone tries it out feel free to post, I will have more information about this available soon. :)

Re: Multiboxing Terraria

Neat- can this be done with other steam games like Dungeon Defenders?

Re: Multiboxing Terraria

The same process SHOULD work for any game that normally allows you to launch multiple instances of it through Steam, as Terraria does. Feel free to try it out and report back :)
